I was wondering does anyone know of the health advantages of keeper kosher. I know that pork has cholesterol and fat and people should limit both. Keeping dairy and meat products separate may be healthy as well. Many people have shellfish allergies that can be life-threatening and so on.
Does anyone know if this has been studied?
Could this be why the Eternal gave us the Kosher laws in the first place?
God cares about our nutrition as well as our spirits and souls? What are your thoughts?

Hi babochka...
My Dad is a great example of eating kosher for health.
He is 81 and has been kosher for about 43-44 years.
He rid his body of arthritis back then and has no indication of it in his body what-so-ever.
When he started eating kosher, many of his friends mocked him and his 'wierd' beliefs....but in more recent times, these friends have asked him to "tell" them more about his kosher lifestyle and have made the changes themselves.
These days he climbs mountains around his town with men less than half his age.
Mind you....it's not just a kosher lifestyle, but a healthy one too, free from preservatives, refined foods, and junk food.
Here is an article you may find interesting. It gives good insight into just how the metabolic systems of these animals differ from those of clean animals.

A really good book about this is called Holy Cow! by Hope Egan, and you can find it at FFOZ: http://holycownews.com/
I was Amazed at the real benefits of eating Biblically kosher (the prohibition of milk & meat together being Rabbinical kosher, as a contrast). Pigs, for instance, have a very simple digestive system, so everything ends up in their meat, including huge amounts of toxins. A cow, on the other hand, has a multiple stomach digestive system, so that by the time whatever it eats gets to it's meat, there are practically no toxins left (of course, this isn't counting the beef industry today which shoots steroids and whoknowswhat into cows to make them grow big, fast).
All the other non-clean animals/birds/bugs have the same issues~ they're Extremely unhealthy and were never considered food. All the clean animals are to be considered food, and are healthy for anyone to eat.
Anyway, you can click the link and read more for yourself... I thought it was Fastinating to read the medical/scientific stuff! In fact, that's what swayed my DH & my teens to eating Biblically kosher. :)

You may be interested in a book titled The Makers Diet, it is written by a Jewish doctor ( Jordan Rubin) who is also a believer in Messiah Yeshua ( Jesus) and was a 195lb 19 year old when he got sick and went down to 105 lb. He spent thousands of dollars and travelled the world to find help and healing, but the L-RD showed him what he was searching all over for was already in the word.
Unfortunatly he is being promoted on many Christian shows that feature WOF healers so it weakens his message but there aren't many platforms to let others know of this I guess.

Last year, I lost 23 lbs without trying on the Maker's Diet. I plan to start again and try to keep it going for life. We are also adopting a child from China with health issues so I plan on getting the whole family going on it before we pick her up. I know that G-d's way is the healthiest and I will plan on keeping her as healthly as possible. The premise is really just this -eat it only if G-d made it. :)

The Maker's Diet is a book (and diet plan) by Dr. Jordan Rubin that was mentioned in Zayit's post above. He doesn't overtly say it's based on Biblical kosher eating, but it is.

Would you eat kosher even if there were not health benefits?
'Be not like the slave who serves his master for the sake of a reward; but be like the slave who serves his master not for the sake of a reward.'

I would....but I was brought up that way....It's normal for me.
But I would think that "many" Jewish people eat kosher because of tradition reather than for the benefit of health.
Just look at the rest of the diet of a kosher person to understand wheather they believe that it is for health benefits or not....
You can certainly be kosher and not healthy.
You know....kosher Hot Chips, kosher burgers, kosher donuts.
Not really at the top of your list of healthy foods.
When a gentile becomes convicted to eat kosher....I guess health benefits may come into consideration...because, more often than not, there is some degree of research done by such people.
Sorry Steve....I just realised that you were most likely refering your question to babochka.
anyway....my 2c
Shalom

but i thought the dairy and meat thing meant that your not suppose to say take the milk of a cow and cook the meat in it?
or something like, not useing the cheese made from the same cow you are going to eat?
What is the Leviticus scripture concerning this?

What is the Leviticus scripture concerning this?the Levitical scripture says specifically "do not seethe a calf in it's mother's milk"
I, however, choose to obey the teaching/halakah to separate all milk from meat as I see the great spiritual value of complete separation:
intense intimate mindfulness of mercy - both toward even such a lowly creature as a bovine, but also the principle of not mixing death (meat) with life (milk)
the ever present intimate reminder and focus on the deliberate effort to bring awareness of His holiness into even the most mundane daily activities such as every bite of every meal
the virtue and wisdom of the "fences" that the rabbis of honored memory and ancient wisdom erected to protect us from the unwitting violation of His Instructions and the agency of the fences which work together to give our focus an even finer beam of intention as we approach every moment and every act of every day. This is truly how we "pray without ceasing" as each act and every obedience is a prayer.... remember that you and I pray, everyday, prayers that are not exact quotations of scripture, but many incorporate ancient prayers, even liturgy - the fences, the ancient prayers and the liturgy - none are found explicitly in scripture - but all are equally implied ;) and share the purpose of utilizing the knowledge and wisdom of those g-dly honored teachers who have gone before us to enrich and strengthen our relationship with HaShem :)

Ever tried adding natural yoghurt to your pizza...(after it's cooked)... on the side?
With a little Thai chilli (my neighbour makes his own (kosher))
fresh red chillis
onions
garlic
tomatos
[wash my mouth][wash my mouth][wash my mouth][wash my mouth][wash my mouth] lime leaves
lime or lemon juice
and their peel
a little sugar if you wish
fry up, remove [wash my mouth][wash my mouth][wash my mouth][wash my mouth][wash my mouth] leaves and blend into a paste
Yummo!
Oh! and avocado is delicious on home made pizza too.....
