why is it okay for old christians like grandmothers and grandfathers to use some mild four letters words. Were they not bad words back then?

I would think that it's not okay.
I mean, I know I looked up to my grandparents...especially my mom's mom...because she was a very religious person. And if she used any type of swear word, I know I would get the impression it was "okay" to use a word like that...when it really wasn't.

Oh, cheeze whiz.....like they haven't earned a little swear word throughout their lives. The only thing that makes a swear word a swear word is the context that is used, honestly. You could make any word a swear word so long as you said it when you were frustrated or upset. If anyone is left with an impression that God is not good and that Christians are not on the right path because an old woman cusses when she drops and egg that she'll have a rough time cleaning up, then talk to me. lol Otherwise, I don't think that it really matters too much in the long run. :)

Will this work for you Andrew?
Matthew 15
17"Don't you see that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and then out of the body? 18But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man 'unclean.' 19For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. 20These are what make a man 'unclean'; but eating with unwashed hands does not make him 'unclean.' Cursing is a bad habit.
Most of the time I suspect that if you hit your thumb with a hammer you will say something inappropriate.
If only being "Born Again" would stop us from sinning. I wonder, can I actually live up to perfection now that I have been Born Again?
Ask yourself what happened to the apostle Peter when the cock crowed. Wonder about that guy Thomas he must of been a stubborn one.

Me I like to cuss alot, especially to little children that can't defend themselves. I do it until they start to cry, then I beat them up! :P J/K
Ask yourself this, why do nonbelievers use the Lords name in vein alot?

I don't think it's right to cuss at any age. If you can't do it when you're young, you can't do it when you're old. Right and wrong do not change as you age. I know that everyone slips up once and a while, young and old, but that doesn't make it ok.

I don't like to cuss, and I think that there are plenty of other words that can and should be used.
But there is one time when I did cuss and thought it was appropriate.
I helped my brother and a friend out one night from a gang fight.
A gang of 15 came against them, so I went and helped them. One of them tried to kick my knee out, I countered it, and then started to shout and cuss at him.
It seemed to work by putting fear into him, no one else came up to me.
So I took one of the leaders out with fear.
But how often does that situation arise?
