Thanks for starting this thread Lonnie!

Attending a non Catholic church service would be an occasion of sin, especially if done regularly. The reasoning is pretty simple.

An occasion of sin is a situation in which you are prone to sin.
Usually while attending a non-Catholic church service, the preacher will preach teachings that are completely contradictory to Catholic teaching.
Adhering to a heretical or a schismatic belief system is sinful.
Continually exposing yourself to schismatic of heretical sermons, especially one that appeal to emotionalism, has the ability to wear one down after a while, and lead you astray.
Therefore, you are willfully putting yourself into a situation in which you are prone to sin (the acceptance of a schism/heresy)...
which is the definition of an occasion of sin.

How is following the bible a " heretival or a schimastic belief system" ? I don't understand his reasonning ...

I don't know if you're allowed to copy a post like that, but it seems that it'd be too dangerous for them, they might learn the sun doesn't revolve around the Catholic church. And I should add as an ex-RCC, that's a scary revelation.

While I was raised Catholic , I was told to never attend anything but a Catholic meeting .

But , you know what ? Most groups do this kind of thing in one way or another . That is why they have such negative terms such as "church hopper" and "lone ranger christian" . That is why they have things such as membership , committment , and covenant . They don't like their members paying attention to others and possibly *gasp* giving their money to others .

I was also raised a catholic , but it made me angry when he said that his church was better because of how they worship.

Where is the Love in catholic churches ?

Because not every church follows the Bible correctly.
