How many carniverous plants do you have, and have you ever seen them attack things (such as flies)?

if you could be a superhero:
a) what would your name be?
b) how would they "call" you for help? (think batman's light-in-the-sky, etc)
c) who would be your arch nemesis?
be creative! :D

Hey, anyone ever hear of an elephant ear plant? It has huge leaves, and grows very large. Well my mom had one growing at the side of our house when I was little. I was learning how to ride my bike. You guessed it. My bike headed right toward that plant, and I crashed into the plant. I was thrown off the bike, and devoured by that plant!! I barely crawled out with my life. :D

Nope. Those would be parasitic plants. Like Missletoe. :)

BERLIN (Reuters) - The world's tallest -- and smelliest -- flower has bloomed, reaching a height of 2.94 meters, 18 centimeters more than the previous record for the species, the Stuttgart botanical garden said on Friday. The Titan Arum, or Amorphophallus Titanum, nicknamed "corpse flower" because of its putrid stench, blooms rarely and briefly.
Garden staff have nicknamed the purple flower "Diva" and are charting its life on their web site, www.wilhelma.de (http://www.wilhelma.de/).
But those keen for a glimpse, or a whiff, in person must be quick: just 24 hours after the 11 year-old plant produced its first flower, the bloom began to wilt on Friday.
The Titan Arum was discovered in 1878 in its sole indigenous habitat, the Indonesian island of Sumatra, and grows in cultivation in only a handful of places around the world.
Its scent has been likened to rotting fish or animal flesh.
"The smell is crucial to its survival in its natural habitat because it attracts pollinating carrion beetles and flesh flies," said botanist Franziska Lo-Kockel.
Lo-Kockel brought the bulb of the plant, weighing some 40 kilograms, from the University of Frankfurt to the Stuttgart gardens 11 years ago.

What is your favorite Thanksgiving memory? I'm not CPman, but I'll make a wild guess. Is it when the carnivorous plant swallowed the thanksgiving turkey whole and spat out the bones  ^_^ .

What is your favorite Thanksgiving memory?
Um. I would have to say one Thanksgiving after dinner at my Granny's we watched some old home video (old as in, predating VCRs). It was really fun getting back in family history.
As for the other post about a carnivorous plant eating a turkey... That would be interesting, but again, I wouldn't want my plant to be destroyed by the hungry family members :P
