I came across this from Caspari and I thought it would be interesting to post because it call into question about oneīs Jewishness and having faith in Jesus/Yeshua.
I had one incident last fall when among some Jewish relatives (Iīm a gentile believer but they have married into the family) in Phoenix that Jews are not Jews because they believe in Jesus. Then, I came across this article which is a pdf and I hope some will respond. Go to:
http://www.caspari.com/JewishIdentity.pdf
The article I want you to read is "Who Is a Jew?"...number 4. Briefly the article argues the spectrum about Jewish identity and then some arguments what other scholars have wrote.
Shalom,
David.

Not sure what exactly you are wanting a response on? There is a debate amongst the Jewish community about who is a Jew that has been going on for centuries. The "law of return" in Israel is pretty broad - except when it comes to those that profess belief in Yeshua.

Just a quick answer to the above: Does a Jew lose his/her identity of being a Jew if they believe in Jesus/Yeshua the Messiah?
From the link to Caspari it seems the argument that they donīt; but I suppose the debate is among Jews.
Shalom,
David.

An Orthodox friend of mine says that a Jew is a Jew, no matter what they profess or if they even know that they are Jewish. However if they don't live the life that they are called to, then there will be hell to pay, but they are still Jewish.

There was an issue here in Toronto (2nd largest Jewish population in North America after New York City) a few years ago. A Messianic Jew, associated with Jews for Jesus (a man i knew from my time working with J4J) and a professor of Jewish history passed away and was originally denied burial in a Jewish cemetary. The reasoning, of course, was that he was no longer a Jew because of his belief in Jesus as Messiah.
I wonder how many athiestic Jews are buried in that cemetary ?? I'm sure more than a few. Seems their criteria as to who is a Jew and who isn't is biased and a double standard !:sigh:

Shalom,
Yeshua is the Jew of Jews.
A careful Bible study in the original Hebrew proves that Yeshua gave the Torah to the children of Israel at Mount Sinai.
All Rabbis teach that what makes one Jewish is accepting Torah like the fathers at Mount Sinai did. The Rabbis also teach that accepting Yeshua stops a Jew from being Jewish. You think about that. See a contradiction?
A Jew has a huge cavity in him until he receives his Jewish Messiah who left that cavity for Himself to full one day.

according to the Supreme Court of Israel:
While a Messianic Jew who practices Judaism is not considered a Christian, neither do they have the Right of Return
according to Jewish Law (halakah):
A Jew is a Jew forever
in popular understanding:
A Jew is a Jew unless they convert to another religion
in practice:
A Jew is a Jew no matter what, except those who claim Yeshua is the Messiah, be they Christian or not - as evidenced by the fact that all kinds of quasi-Jews have the Right of Return - Baha'i, Buddhist, Hindi, New Age, etc. -
