I am still around, still seeking answers, still leaning towards orthodoxy. I have not attended a liturgy yet, as I have not had the time (been rough around here) but I hope to do so soon.
Anyway I have been staying away from here on purpose as I have a the unique ability to tick people off without trying. Forgive me for my innsolence and if I have offended any of you.
Peace

You know I have the exact same talent.
I will share something with you.
The very first post I made in this forum was "Works? (http://www.christianforums.com/t2013968-works.html)" I knew for sure that thread would be locked. I came back each time expecting to see it locked and have a nasty PM in my inbox. I posted question after question and instead of ticking people off and getting yelled at - they answered my questions. Questions that should have sent them into a rage and gotten me banned only got kind answers. Now I am in the process of embracing Orthodoxy.
My point is - this is a different kind of place. As long as you are not overtly nasty these guys will help you out. If you are overtly nasty they will probably pray for you. Don't run away thinking that they will not put up with you. If I had done that I would not be here now and I would still be complaining that I could not find the perfect church among the 2600 protestant denominations.

Hey Bud :)
So good to see you. Get to that Divine Liturgy as soon as you can. It will help things fall into place as you study. You never offended me and know that you are welcome here.
Monica
PS: If you are going to take the little monkey off as your avatar, can you at least put him in your signature :)

God forgives all R. Please forgive us any offenses. :crosseo:
A Prayer to the Holy Trinity
Arising from sleep I thank thee, O holy Trinity, because of the abundance of thy goodness and long-suffering thou wast not wroth with me, slothful and sinful as I am; neither hast thou destroyed me in my transgressions: but in thy compassion raised me up, as I lay in despair; that at dawn I might sing the glories of thy Majesty. Do thou now enlighten the eyes of my understanding, open my mouth to receive thy words, teach me thy commandments, help me to do thy will, confessing thee from my heart, singing and praising thine All-holy Name: of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit: now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

I've been checking out your blog, Bud, so I knew you hadn't given up yet. ;)
It's good to ask tough questions, and to be honest with yourself when the answers don't make sense to you. God bless you!

Dear Ragamuffins (Bud?)
I have missed you and your questions ... real good questions that need to be asked.
I'm happy that you are still looking into Orthodoxy, don't let us scare you away from the truth.
And the monkey? Could you copy the dancing one that Lotar has?
Dear Monica,
I love your character outfits, but this is the best one (so far)!
Lovingly in Christ to both of you

Sometimes I forget which icon I am using, as I have the icons and images turned off. The only time I see it is when I go to my profile screen. I really like the dog so I will probably keep it. Not sure why everyone is so crazy about the monkey but I will see if I can find it again for my profile picture :)

Doing fairly well here. God has blessed me more than I could ever imagine. I have my first icon by the way, an icon called madonnen-ikone by von Br. Radbod Commandeur.
Maddona and child. Do i pray in front of it? No, but it is here as a reminder of my journey.

......... I would still be complaining that I could not find the perfect church among the 2600 protestant denominations.[/QUOTE]
For orthodox people , IT is the perfect, for other not, but DEFINITELY, the Orthodox Church is NOT among the 2600 protestant denominations.
It is not a protestant denomination, it is apart of that, it is the oldest and for many many people it is THE CHURCH.
