My ethnic background is terribly boring.

My ancesters have all been French since the end of 18th century (I did not investigate further). Except one or two italians in the 1900's.

On my mother's side I'm some sort of white. On my father's side I'm another sort of white. Yipee. I compensate by having a black patron saint and going to a Church full of Greeks, Arabs, and Slavs. :)

Mongrel. Czech, Slovak, English, French, German, all in the last few generations (there's even a Turk, but she married in and isn't one of my ancestors). It's even worse for my son, he's got all of mine plus the Romanian, Russian and Ukrainian of his mother - he doesn't stand a chance when he gets asked a similar question in future.

I know that feeling... no wonder why I moved!! ;) Although we've had some pretty cold winters here in MD lately.
I'm Finnish, Swedish speaking, from Finland mainly but parts of my family is originally from parts of Finland that is now in Russia, as well as Sweden and Germany (but that's about 300-400 years ago).
So now I live in the US and attend a Russian Orthodox Church... ;) and feel right at home!

My ethnic background is quite plain. I am Chinese, and my ancestors are from southern China. I did receive some curious looks at first when I was following the liturgy (syllabically) in Greek.

I'm 200% Russian! Hehe, extra 100% is for the culture! (Well, the excessive Russianness is now being converted to americanness to a small extent, particularly texanness)

Actually, Russia embraces several nationalities which are not slavic. So, my dad is/was slavic, my mom is not. She comes from the ethnicity which was long established as a mixture of turkish, slavic and mongolian blood. But the mixture happened like a thousand years ago, so that now we have a separate ethnicity :) It's called Bashkir, and Bashkirs live in the territory covering South Ural Mountains and a several hundred kilometers to the West from Urals (borders with Kazakhstan).

Furthermore, i just came back from meeting up with my Priest. He was telling me that when he lived in Moscow, they're were plenty of Muslim families there. I was pretty suprised that it was diverse. Although i shouldn't be suprised since its such a big place, but i was, lols.:P

I am mainly English, Scottish, and German, though I also have a little Black Irish, Dutch, and Cherokee Indian in my background. I'm your basic Heinz 57 Variety. If there was an Orthodox jurisdiction for mine, it would be the Heinz 57 Variety Orthodox Church and people of all backgrounds would be welcome, which is how it should be anyway.

Same here, until my Grandpa became Lutheran. Now only the extended family is Roman Catholic. :D

I still have my great Grandma Albanese's miraculous medal. I wonder what Father would say if I wore it to DL Sunday... :P ^_^

My dad's mom (my grandma) and sisters were Roman Catholics, as was my godmother (who was also my cousin).

My other Grandpa was sort of a cultural Catholic. So my Dad, Aunt and Uncles were baptized in the RCC but were raised atheist/agnostic. He got mad when my Dad started going to church with us: "If you're going to believe in God, then you should be Catholic."

After all, if you're Irish, you're supposed to automatically be Catholic. :D

I'm eightth generation Canadian.

Over the years, I have managed to pick up the following strains in my bloodlines:

English, from Britain.
English, from America ("United Empire Loyalists").
English, from Ireland (Irish Quakers).
Scottish, from Scotland.
Scottish, from Quebec (the trail disappears there).
Scottish, from Ireland.
French, from Quebec (the trail disappears there).
German, from America ("Pennsylvania Dutch").

Usually, I just say 1/4 Anglo-Irish, 1/4 Anglo-German, 1/4 Scottish, and 1/4 French. It's not quite accurate, but it works.

In terms of spiritual heritage, I have Quakers, Methodists, Baptists, Roman Catholics, and maybe Amish in my background. And now I am the first Orthodox in my family's recorded history! Yay!

My earliest ancestors were German mercenaries in the revolutionary war. Before that I have no records. Other than German I also have Cherokee and Irish in me.
