"My beloved Orthodoxy, you are like an enslaved nation. A thousand winds battle you, wanting to uproot you from the earth, and have decided to make you a lost remembrance, a museum piece showing a tragic history, and yet the great Lord, the triune God, who governs wisely from above, has hidden you from them in a discrete corner, like a flower under a stone, enabling you to keep a few, simple, devout, and humble souls. Yes, you continue to live and exist, and to nurture generations of the young, and will, I am sure, forever. For you display the path that leads to the gates of eternity for all who seek."
- from Saint Nektarios: The Saint of Our Century by Sotos Chrondropoulos

This was a GREAT book. Very well written. It was so sad to see how he was slandered so badly. But that is what helped in his humility and his becoming a Saint. There's some of that going on nowadays.

Marjorie,
This is a great and a right-to-heart going confession and expresses all past and makes us feel sure about the future. Thanks for you work to communicate it to others.

Tsarina,
this out of the thread, you may have already wrote somewhere about this, but I still dare.
You should share your conversion story with us. Only from a few hints I got from previous posts from you, it looks like a story in the early centuries of Christianity, under Nero, Diocletianus ...
I also think that it would be very instructive for those who take these freedoms as granted or who were born and rised in a traditional Orthodox environment and "stop to see the forrest because of the trees". Be blessed, you were really gifted by God.
