Rome currently acknowledges a council held in Constantinople in AD 869 as the Eighth Council. Orthodoxy recognizes (although often does not enumerate) the Council (different from the Roman) held in Constantinople in AD 879 as the Eighth Council.
Do Anglicans count any council as the Eighth?
What about the various Western pre-Trent councils (such as the councils of Lateran and Lyons) held between AD 1054 and AD 1500?

We generally accept 7, but since the 8th is what affirms the 7th, to an extend we also recognize it.
Some Anglicans only recognize 4, since many would say the Churhc was split at Chalcedon.
IMHO, if you don't accept the councls, you have no grouds to accept anythign else the Church teaches. You can't simply pick and choose doctrine caffeteria style, so I say accept all 7.

I echo Gtsecc. I affirm those seven ecumenical councils as authoritative and binding. You cannot say you accept them if you do not take their doctrinal pronouncements as binding. I would recognize eight to the extent that it affirms seven.

Just wanted to emphasize that Orthodoxy and Rome accept two different Councils as the Eighth.

Actually, gtsecc, I think you are thinking of the "sixth-seventh" council, which "finished" the sixth (I think it was that some things were forgotten about after they closed it).
Anglicanism doesn't believe any council or synod after the Seventh is Ecumenical. However, I would think most Anglicans would agree with the EO that the Robber Council should be discounted.
