new kind of chat box?

i don't know much about this forum, or any forums for that matter, but i was looking for a "chat box" where i could "chat" about some issues i'm having. i prefer the chat boxes over the posting threads deal so i went to the chat box thinking "light conversation" meant no debates and be friendly to one another (which they were not and i should have reported them). yesterday i got chewed out in the "light" chat box for talking about my personal issues, i wasn't even attacking anyone and didn't even get direct and "put anyone in there place" until someone started attacking me and wouldn't stop. i'm what you all call a "newbie". i would like to make a couple of suggestions for this forum: be more specific with new people, because we really don't know what we are doing, especially if you are not a computer "genius" like some people ; and create a new kind of chat box where people can chat about their personal problems, not leaving that just to the thread posting. does this already exist and i just don't know it, like everything else on here? like what is PMing someone? "mods"? "reseting"? anything else i should know? but please don't yell it at me like the people did yesterday. thanks. and i will read the "rules" one more time.

I don't know your person issues/problems. Whatever it is you are referring to or want to talk about is an issue/a problem, something that you don't take lightly and something that you do not want to be taken lightly.

Cf has several forums - and yes, you would need to talk in a thread - for different issues/problems people have. The chatbox therefore is for ligth conversation and people go there for light conversation. It does not mean they are uncaring towards anyone, especially a newbie, but there is a place for everything.


like what is PMing someone? "mods"? "reseting"? anything else i should know?

"PMing" is sending a private message to another member. Each CF member can have a personal pm box (like an email account - the only difference is you can only send message to members of the website and only receive messages from members - you cannot send messages outside this website).

"mods" is short for "moderators". Moderators are members who are in charge of a forum (making sure that rules are maintained, etc.)
