How often do you make the sign of the cross during sunday services? Isn't it like a zillion times or something?
Do you do it at home on a daily basis-like during personal prayer time?
Just wondering.

At home after table-grace, and any time the Gloria Patri is pronounced during family prayers.
At church when the Gloria Patri is pronounced, at the end of the Creed, after communing, and a triple-cross when the Gospel is proclaimed.

I do it whenever the Trinity is mentioned and at other random times. Hardly whenever the Gloria is pronounced, usually I bow then.

I'll count next time I'm at mass. And I do it fairly often during my own devotions or spontaneous prayer - example, I'll often make the sign of the cross and have a quick prayer when I see the life-flight helicopter ambulance overhead, or a 'regular' ambulance en route to the hospital.

I usually make the sign of the Cross at any invocation of the Holy Trinity, after every line of a Litany, at the beginning and end of the Pater Noster, and upon entering and leaving a church. I also do it at the beginning and end of any prayer.

Every time Trinity is invoked, but also at other times, when I feel that making the affirmation is proper and right; but yes... zillion times, and it is never enough.

end of the Creed, when going up to receive communion, at the absolution, the fun little crosses for the Gospel, any other invocation of the Trinity I've forgotten and at the beginning and end of personal devotions.

I make the sign of the cross four times during the Rite II service (79 Prayer Book):
1. "Blessed Be God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit"
2. The absolution
3. "Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord"
4. The blessing at the end of the service.

To be honest, I rarely do the sign of the cross. I understand the meaning and purpose behind it, but it's never been a spiritual practice that did anything for me, and it distracts me from focusing on God. So, I figure, why bother?

Ummm.... about every five minutes. But then again, I've been told that I am rather "high church". Hahaha. (Actually, in my parish back home, during the Et Incarnatus Est in the Creed, everyone else bows while I kneel. It's the ancient medieval Catholic in me.) ;)

I almost never make the sign of the cross. I'm usually too focused on what is being said to remember to do it.

Never use the sign of the cross. The vicar doesn't either.

I think it works out to something like 50 times during a High Solemn mass.
But, that is nothing compared to an Eastern Orthodox service.
