I was wondering if anyone could recommend any sites that have basic information on Eastern Orthodox doctrine and the Eastern Orthodox outlook? I always get the feeling that there is a lot I don't know about Eastern Orthodoxy, and I'd like to learn more.
Thanks!

The best resource will probably be on the OCA page in here: http://www.oca.org/OCorthfaith.asp?SID=2
It is a complete catechism, very basic, but it will provide a springboard for further inquiries.

Father Alexander (http://www.fatheralexander.org/page6.htm) has some good info as well.

From the OCA site: The eucharist is always given to all members of the Church, including infants who are baptized and confirmed. It is always given in both forms -- bread and wine. It is strictly understood as being the real presence of Christ, his true Body and Blood mystically present in the bread and wine which are offered to the Father in his name and consecrated by the divine Spirit of God.
This sounds like consubstantiation to me. Is it believed that the Body and Blood are in the bread and wine or that the bread and wine become the Body and Blood?

IP, we've actually debated about this before.
It's ambiguous in various accounts but what we all agree on is that the Body and Blood of Christ are made present to us in the form of bread and wine, and that this is the sanctification of all Creation, the transfiguration of Creation into the physical abode of God.
We generally don't define it more than that... Orthodox theologians are more preoccupied with the event, the meal, the purpose of the Eucharist, as opposed to exactly what physically happens. It is the Body of Blood of Christ, not bread and wine, but it is made present through bread and wine, in bread and wine.

Sorry man...it was an honest question based on something I read there and was confused about. I wasn't *trying* to derail the thread.
Thank you for your response Marjorie.

www.orthodoxinfo.com is another good one imo.

Saying it's mystically present doesn't mean denying it's real-ly present.

In general, it is good. However, there are a couple of articles that are perhaps too traditionalist.

And in fact it actually means confirming that it is REALLY present (not just symbolically). As an Orthodox though, the most important thing (that is never up for grabs in any way you look at it) is believing that it is truly the body and blood of Christ. This is non-negotiable jsut as in the RCC.
