They have some very cute exchanges, but I think Samwise Gamgee has the absolute best line of all in the last movie.
Gollum has some fabulous lines, too.

Battle scene in ROTK:
*Legolas jumps up the oliphaunt's side, climbs on its head, takes out several enemies with his well aimed arrows, stabs the oliphaunt's head, eyes, it stumbles over, Legolas, ever light on his feet, slid down the oliphaunt's trunk with a smug look on his face*
Gimli: (with a scowl on his face) "THAT STILL COUNTS AS ONE!!"

I loved this part :)

Those movies were great (even tho' they were really long). The ending kind of had me tho' it just seemed to to keep going on and on and on...... oh well.
The extened versions were the best of all.
what is it? 12+ hours of entertainment? take one weekend and get bed sores from watching LOTR and Star Wars back to back. Talk about veggin out :)

Yep, it's 12+ hours of "entertainment" with the extended versions. :P I'll admit, I wasn't a fan at first, but my hubby did get me into it now. ;)

Count me in as a LOTR fan!
I absolutely love the extended version of Return of the King! And it soooo does not feel as long as it actually is when you watch it. :)

I love LoTR, I've read the series a few times and I think it's about time I start reading them again! Though I have to say my favorite Tolkien book was the Silmarillion. :)

I HAVE that book, the Silmarillion....I quit reading after going halfway through and it's been YEARS since I've finished it. I couldn't handle the dryness of Tolkien's writing in that book. How did you manage to read thru it?!

ah, the books are far better than the movies. i did enjoy the movies though but it kinda annoyed me that they viewed orcs and goblins as the same creature.

I think that would make a great movie - Snowy, the Jedi Orc. You could be the new Shrek.
so I can be in Star Wars, LoTR and Shrek?...wow!...I feel privileged to be accepted for 3 movies in a row...I'll do all three!

Yeah....that completely bugged me out in the movies....especially Fellowship of the Ring....I got all confused as to what a goblin was and what an orc was because they both looked the same!

Once upon a time in a galaxy far, far away an elf ship from Arda, which had somehow gotten diverted from sailing into the Undying Lands of the West, crashed on the ice planet of Tatooine near an outpost of the Rebel Alliance. The only surviving elf, having been ravaged by an Orc in the Great War of the Ring, gave birth to a daughter with her last life’s breath. The rebel forces that found her, named her Snowy and trained her in the ways of a Jedi Knight. However, while still a youngling at the fall of the Empire, she was kidnapped by fleeing imperial forces and cryogenically frozen, but as their ship neared a sun in its attempt to escape capture, it was thrown into a time-warp and hurled across the universe back to the blue planet now simply called Earth. The ship crashed outside a New Mexico town called Roswell…

this would make a great thread ;)

"I was reading Lord of the Rings and Lord of the Flies at the same time. It was confusing, especially the part where they broke Frodo's glasses." Someone I know said this on an Internet radio station. :)
