If you feel led to give, there is a list of organizations here that need donations to assist hurricane victims http://www.fema.gov/press/2005/resources_katrina.shtm#donate
The Southern Baptist Convention Disaster Relief fund is on the list.

I just saw this on the news yesterday. We all ought to pray, and give what we can for the relief of these people. By the way, these sorts of natural disasters should remind us of the words that the Lord said in the Gospel. And he answered them, "Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans, because they suffered in this way? No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish. Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them: do you think that they were worse offenders than all the others who lived in Jerusalem? No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish."
(St. Luke 13:2-5)

I am in Baton Rouge. Just wanted to say how much we appreciate any and all prayers for our area.
I can't imagine what those that have lost everything are going through. I had a rough time just making it through 36 hours without power.
The local stations are showing scenes of the devastation around the clock and I can't seem to stop watching and can't seem to stop crying.
New Orleans means alot to all of us in Louisiana and to me as an individual as I spent alot of time there with my dear husband Jim that went to be with the Lord in May. Just thinking about it now has sent me into tears.
Gulfport meant alot to me too as that is where my dear Jim grew up and we lived there for a year. It just breaks my heart to think that the hotel that his parents owned as he grew up and his parents home and all of the other places we enjoyed going to along the beach are probably gone.
I know I shouldn't let the loss of all of this material stuff get to me so, but I guess it's still just part of getting over the loss of my dear Jim and his connection to these places that is affecting me so much.
So, I feel so for all of the people that are in so much worse shape than I am because if I am having such a hard time dealing with it, I can't image what they must be going through. Please continue to pray that the Lord will strengthen them and use this horrible event to draw them closer to him.
