 Hello ...
What does "Stein Auf" mean ... it sounds German but I never heard it before

"Stein Auf!" is German, but it's WRONG German. It's a phrase from my favorite band, Lost And Found (www.speedwood.com (http://www.speedwood.com))
One time, they were on tour in Germany and they wanted to say "Rock On!" So, at their concerts, they were ending them by saying (and since I don't know German, I can't do this part - but essentailly) "Long live Germany, Stein Auf! (Rock On!)"
They had looked up the word "rock" and looked up the word "on" and put the two together to get "Rock On."
About a week later one of the Germans came to them and said, "Hey, Lost And Found, you know that "Stein Auf!" doesn't really mean "Rock On!"?
They were like, "Oh? Well, what does it mean?"
Then the German said, "It basically means 'stone on top of'"
They had just wanted to be cool Americans, so to limit their embarrassment, they told the Germans that it is what we say, "Stone on top of." They now have German fans that write to them and say, "Hey, Lost And Found Stein Auf!"
It's caught on as a phrase that does mean "Rock On" with their friends, with a basically kind of hidden meaning of "God bless" or/and "Stand on the the solid rock."

That's almost as funny as when John F. Kennedy went to Germany and thought he said "I am a Berliner" when he said "Ich bin ein Berliner." What he really said is "I am a jelly doughnut."

Funny bit to add to that - Kennedy actually said in English, I am a Berliner and it was the translater that said "Ich bin ein Berliner".
So question for Kagome - What state are you from and what do you think of the weather there?

I'm from Louisiana (born in Michigan, but moved to Louisiana when I was five). Today the weather is wet. Usually the weather in Louisiana is too hot. It does get gold in the winter, but never extremely cold.
I live in Lake Charles. . .that's about a three hour drive west of New Orleans, so yeah, it's really sad with Katrina lately. There are plenty of evacuess in Lake Charles.

Somehow I get the feeling you like music :) . Do you play an instrument yourself. Maybe even perform solo or with a band?

I do love music ;)
I don't really perform. I do love to sing, at least for church or just for myself. I somewhat play piano (not brilliant or even all that great at it), but I enjoy it. I also play recorder (much better at this) and I dabble in playing glockenspiel and autoharp. I was once also trying to teach myself to play guitar. I should probably start again.

Well, I am there an hour before service, if not earlier, but that's for Sunday School ;)
Being a church nerd means I'm into all this "churchy" stuff. I can tell you the seasons of the church year in order, what they mean, some of the colors, sometimes why that color is used, and major traditions of (at least the Lutheran) church.
I can also talk about hymns and recognize quite a few of them just from the tune.
That's a church nerd ;)

That's a hard one. Yes, it is "bad," however, all you have to do is ask God to forgive you and you'll be forgiven. Everybody struggles with temptation when it comes to something. You just have to rely on God. . .pray constantly, especially when you feel the temptation. Remember that you are a Chrisitan. God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are always there for you.

What's your favourite Simon and Garfunkel track?
Oooh, now that's a hard question to answer. There are so many great songs - Mrs. Robinson, Red Rubber Ball, Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard and more. . .
But, hmm, I do love "Slip Slidin' Away." I know all the lyrics to it, so I guess that kind of makes it a favorite.

A good way to spend a saturday, reading, relaxing, listening to music, being at a Christian Concert if there's one nearby, talking to friends, writing. . .
My favorite thanksgiving memory - that's a hard one. I enjoy when we've had Thanksgiving with friends the most, I guess. I like spending time with them.

I'd really love to go to New Zealand and see some stuff there.
Hmm, other than that, I don't think I have any adventures. I just want to do normal life stuff, get married, have kids.

Oh, my. . .I don't know my "favorite" for certain. I mean, there's so much magic to the true meaning of Christmas and all the fun of Christmas, too!
When I was little, just being so certain I saw Rudolph's nose in the sky.
Then, with the real meaning, probably one of the best Christmas programs we did, taking pictures and telling a story with slides and those pictures. That was an awesome time. Studying and really getting learn about the story and why were where we were. . .

I have a lot of great childhood memories. Hmm, hard to pick just one! I do like what it was like to sit on my dad's lap and learn. I also remember riding my bike with training wheels all around the place, that was tons of fun!

Yep, I have a dog. He's a beagle and Labrador mix. He's 11 years old and still my baby!
My mom also has a dog - a little chihuahua and dachshund mix - 4 or 5 years.
We call the dogs "brothers."
