Well, I've never left my homeland of Australia, but my favourite place that I'd like to visit for a holiday would probably be either the Swiss Alps or Italy. :) But of places I've been to, my fave place is definitely Sydney :D

Anyway, the interviewee's chair will be vacated for now. I shall be back in about 9 hours (since I do actually sleep for a period of time each night ;)) and will sift through whatever questions are in this thread for ordered answering. :) Please note that I am relatively unskilled in answering questions for homework, particularly in language subjects and chemistry, and furthermore believe that high school learning is more readily achieved if you don't get others to do your homework ;)

Man, I've been to the Alps, on the Austrian side. Even rode up the Zugspitz. (I think that's the name of it...it's been a while...1976) They're gorgeous. I went to Lucerne in Switzerland, though. And I'm not positive if there are mountains surrounding the lake town.
Try visiting Gartenkirtchen, a small Barvarian town... great place to buy lederhosens and dirndls. :)

I graduate end of next year - I'd like to be involved in project management, probably on a small scale where I don't have to really travel heaps. Of course, God has the first and final call on that, but working for a big national or international company doesn't really seem as attractive when I'd perhaps be looking to settle down, get married and start a family :) And carmi, maths and geometry are definitely big parts of what I do :D

I know nothing about New Zealand. Do you have a typical change of seasons?
With typical I mean: the scenery, landscape does change visible - not just a minor change in temperature.
KristianJ
5th September 2005, 12:44 AM
I'm not from New Zealand - I'm an Australian :D There's not really a hugely visible change where I live in terms of snow or stuf like that. But in spring, there is an appreciable budding of flowers and other deciduous plants that hve shed their foliage during autumn. It's usually cold nights and cool days in winter, and warm to hot nights and hot days in summer where I live as well, and summer's my least favourite season because I dislike humid warm nights immensely.

I am not a summer person either.
So you have plants that shed foliage but do you also have plants/trees that change colors in autumn. I felt so disappointed when I lived in Greece: boring summer and then no colorworks in autumn.

Well, I didn't really mean that I was someone who never would want to travel - I would love to do so! :D Just that I would rather not do it and be working at the same time...there's something semi-depressing about being in a great city like, say. London, and not being able to take the time to visit places like Hyde Park and Big Ben because you're there for work purposes.

Maybe - depends on whether I had a family or not at the time, because being away from them would be quite difficult, I'd imagine. Especially if it was a family in its infancy.
And lel, I love my Vegemite! :D I am careful to include a serve of it every day in my otherwise semi-balanced diet

See the word "never" in your opening statement?
Do you see an "always", "every", "each" in Kristian's response?
You made a sweeping statement, implying that Kristian never replied to your pms. He simply answered back politely and correctly that he answered pms.
That is not a lie. You need to read what you are writing and what the other is replying. :)

Anyway, I owe a member 4 more "best moments of the year"...so here are a couple more. Strangely enough they involve her...:D
- The first kiss between Lauren and I...:bsh: I shan't describe any further just in case I get told to stop
- Our trip to Wollongong (about an hour and a half south of Sydney) in Febuary - we were still "just friends" at that stage, but the day we spent together was a heap of fun
2 to come later :)

Okay, here's my answer to your question, Lori. There have been a few difficult lessons where circumstances that I thought were cruel and unjust led me to a more vivid understanding of the workings of God. The first I remember was back when I was 14, when our family changed churches. It was quite a hard time because I was leaving a place where I'd built some good friendships, and I didn't like the idea of moving to a place where I wouldn't know anyone. However, God showed me that my fears were unnecessarily self centered, and that his plan for me would be more than enough to demonstrate his supreme power and authority over my life. About 7-8 years on, I am still very much involved in my current church, and feel that God has called me to continue there for some time yet.
For the following reason, please note that I am in no way talking about any one person on CF. I am stating this as merely an observation of things I have seen in all areas of my life, and tried to reconcile with Scriptural truths....at times to come short.
Another difficult lesson (which hasn't had much of an emotional effect as such, but given Scriptural truth is quite concerning) is the tendency for the general Christian attitude to be usurped by matters of the personal and self-satisfaction. Philippians is probably almost my favourite book of the Bible because of the way in which Paul urges the people of Philippi to seek the interests of their fellow believers, and hence to set aside their personal desires and interests. However it's hard to grasp the fact that I have seen instances where this is not the case. At times I have seen an overwhelming atmosphere of discontent, isolation of believers, and what can be fundamentally summarised as "doing things for me". The truth of the Gospel gets diluted because of the way in which we can lose sight of the one whom we are to serve and commit our lives to, and I have been guilty in the past of doing these things.
I quote James 3:8-10 in my signature not to say that what people have said to me in the past has been seasoned with vitriol and phrases that would not please the Father (although I have been on the receiving end of it before). I quote it because I have a desire that the Lord may be glorified in all that I say and do, because he has given me the strength and the gifts in which to do these things. And I have a desire to see that all people, regardless of our diferences, glorify God in all that they say and do.
There's no room in the Christian life for doing things for one's self, because ultimately what it will do is envelop the self and seek to completely take over a person...it's the way that Satan can work to draw the believer away from his or her true Saviour. And it's the ideal environment for the fruits of the sinful flesh to grow just like a noxious vine that strangles a tree or a boa constrictor wrapping itself around its prey. Before you realise it, it's got hold of you and it's too late to put up a fight. But in the end, I wholeheartedly believe that this sort of "death by strangulation" is totally preventable. And the method is as simple as remembering daily that it is God whom has enabled you to wake up and enjoy a brand new day, and the only worthwhile response to that is to say "Father, this one's for you. Use me in a way that will bring glory to your holy name". We will struggle with things each day, but when we are conscious and focussing on the goal of eternal life with teh Father, we are well on the path to victory :)

Ah, yes...and another of my best 5 moments of the year thus far...seeing Third Day in concert on 25 January, then the day after, working at their 26 January concert (doing front of stage crowd control and being almost literally at Mark Lee's feet) and receiving a copy of their setlist signed by Tai Anderson. It's framed and I shall never be letting it out of my house

Thanks, carmi  Your kind words are indeed a blessing. :) I've led Bible studies within my church group before, but I've never really given thought to anything more than that. I've thought at times about doing something as my CF web page when I finally learn HTML (whenever that'll be ^_^) and just putting my thoughts into words and inviting feedback where I think it would be beneficial for me. Because I know that I am as fallible as everyone else here, and my thoughts on key Biblical themes may not be totally right. But I just let the Spirit guide my mind and my fingers when I post something like I did above :)

You actually don't need to know that much html - for displaying a text you might need not more than the code for next paragraph. :)
And there is the wonderful Blog forum - no html required at all

Yeah...I do have a blog buried somewhere within the blog forum from the days when they were called journals...plus I have a Xanga as well that I use somewhat often. :) In the end I'm not too busy with stuff and could probably whip some sort of thing up (with relevant passages) in an hour at the most. I do really enjoy theology...I'm not the best at the active discussion of it, but to see a passage and explore the context in which it is, plus to see where it is in the overall unified Biblical story, is very rewarding :) We're all theologians by nature, and exploring the Bible in some depth is quite exciting...challenging at times, but thank the Lord that he has blessed us with wonderful learned people that have written some superb literature on the Bible :)

I have a predicament:
ok...I'm trying to witness to someone on neopets.com. I know it's a kiddy site. But I'm 13 years old, so whatever. please help me. She has a situation. Her mom hides alcohol from her and won't get a job and is always going out and leaving her for even 48 hours like it's no big deal. It's really hurting her and she is too embarrassed to talk to like a school counselor or something. Any advice?I asked her if she minded if I prayed for her and she said:
sure. no-ones ever prayed for me before
and I asked her if she was a christian and she said:
i suppose i am but im not strictly religious
and so I gave her the link to something on here called like do you know jesus christ as your lord and savior or something like that. @ http://www.christianforums.com/t1356023-do-you-know-jesus-as-your-lord-and-savior.html

Fave outdoor activities would include bushwalking and mountain biking (haven't gone mountain biking for a fair while though) And chores...well ^_^ I don't like cleaning my room all that much, because it's a fairly compact little room and I'm currently having a problem with more clothes than I have space to fit them, which means I'll probably end up giving stuff I've grown out of to charity or something like that. Of those that I like, I don't mind dusting. because I have a slight aversion to dust from a cougher's perspective :)

Hmmmm...good question - it seems like a situation where she could get some worthwhile help from a counselor of some sort, but I can understand why she might find it difficult. But in your witnessing to her, remember that it's God who's gonna be working through you, and even though online witnessing can be hard, God can use situations like that to bring people into His Kingdom :)

I love the Blue Mountains (which are pretty much on my doorstep) - it's hundreds of square kilometres of sightseeing, bushwalking and relaxation. Actually, once upon a time when I was in Year 10 technical drawing/drafting class at school, I designed and drafted my dream house, but unfortunately I lost the plans a couple of years ago. And I tried to "build" it using a house designing software program, but because of the fact that it was a pretty cheap program it didn't really do my vision justice :D But basically it had 4 bedrooms, lots of living space, a nice outdoor entertainment area with pool, gazebo...and all on a mice amount of land :)

Hi all  Since I'm going to be away for 2 weeks most probably starting tomorrow, I thought I'd take this opportunity to wish every CF member a most blessed and enjoyable Christmas. I pray that you'll take the time to spend time with those who need your love and presence in their lives...namely your immediate families and friends outside of CF.
Christmas is a time that needs to be celebrated with those whom you can share the message of love that Christ offers us all, and if there are people in yoru family who have not yet received the Lord into their lives, I'm sure that God will prepare moments where you can show them how much more they can get out of this time of year than Christmas presents and turkey. They can get a gift that will never die, and is eternal...the gift of eternal life made possible by the sacrifice of Jesus.
If you are yet to receive this free gift and want to know more about it, check out http://www.christianforums.com/gospel and see just what it takes. There's nothing more that you need to do than recognise your need for Jesus, and acknowledge his death for your sin, and that without him, your eternal destiny is bleak. In the end, Christmas should not just be a time when we remember and celebrate the birth of Jesus, but a time where we look forward to his death and resurrection, since that's what he came to Earth for. :)
So regardless of the beliefs you hold, regardless of what forums you post in here at CF, and regardless of anything that makes you unique, let's unite in an attitude of joy, peace and good will towards everyone we interact with...in real life and here on CF. Let's break down walls of bitterness and see each other in a context that is not clouded by resentment, poor judgement and ill feeling, but brightened by hope, respect and happiness. Let's embrace contentment over contempt, and bring glory to God, just as we should be doing every time we log in to CF.
God's blessings to you all,
KristianJ :)

Hehe...yurt! :D I can't quite remember what one is, but I know what the other 2 are :) And I camped in a tent - was my second real camping trip (not including one when I was in 4th grade where it rained all night and the tents were rubbish).
Pulchritudinous...well, in the Scrabble thread in Christian Clubs, I said the following about it (and considering the relationship I have with lozzie, it'd have to be a positive word...:)) By the way, it means "having great physical beauty and appeal
One of the guys in my Bible study group used the word during the course of study last week and I thought it would be quite an excellent word to try and remember...naturally though, physical beauty is nothing compared to the more godly attributes (spiritual beauty, I guess you could call it) that make the subject of my user title who she is :)

it's waaaaay better than tents~ I slept in one at the beach 2 years ago, and I love it. it was COLD at the beach, but the yurt had a built-in heater, so it helps! If you have yurt camping in Australia, do it...you'll never go back to tents. LOL

Ah, yes...the dreaded New Years Day phenomenon known as mega hot!! I left to go down to my destination by train (Lauren/lozzie was down there already with her family) and when I left, it had reached about 45 degrees celsius (which is about 113 Fahrenheit, I think). Fortunately, the trains I journeyed on had working air conditioning, and my route was not plagued with problems such as warping tracks and other things that can often occur in such hot weather. You can read about what happened as I arrived at the station where I was being picked up, as told by Lauren in another thread (the first time refers to the first of 2 visits by the NRMA (who provide roadside assistance to stranded motorists):
First time was when I went to pck up Kristian from Bomaderry (aka Nowra) train station. its an hour and a half drive north of where we were camped. So i drove the 30 minutes to ulladaulla and found my car had overheated. This was on the exceptionally hot new years day, so i attributed it to the weather. Howvere, it also did it twice more before i got to nowra. thus my 90minute journey became a 3 hour trek. so when i finally got there... 90 minutes LATE... I called the NRMA. When the guy got there he told me I'd more than likely cracked the head so it would have to be towed and i'd have to wait at least a week for my car! This freaked me out because I couldn't call my dad as where we were staying is out of range for mobile reception. And i needed his advice and if nothign else some way of getting back to our campsite. I chose to call the caravan park who then relayed a message for my dad to call me and he said he would come and have a look at my car. So Kristian and I then waited another hour and a half waiting for him to get there... and then slowly drove back to our tents, stopping every 5 kms to change the water...
We didnt arrive until 1 am...
The weather changed at about 7pm, I think - so most of our wait wasn't done in oppressive heat. It was the weirdest New Years Day ever for me...
But for most of the week, the weather was rather cool to mild except for last Tuesday, which was almost the ideal Summer's day :)

that day WAS hoit... the hottest day i've ever been in! :P
one would think that being on the coast would cool things down (east coast that is) but the westerly brought only HOT wind from inland...

Wowsers, I can't imagine how hot it can get! I'm glad you guys made it thru that day, and still have a good time camping!
Q: have you gotten a chance to see the movie, "Narnia"? If not, GO SEE IT. This movie follows C.S. Lewis' book pretty faithfully.

We saw it on Thursday (or Wednesday...either of the 2 days :D) I haven't read the book for years, but the movie was fantastic! A couple of scenes that might not have been child friendly as such, but it was a wonderful movie :)

Just to let you all know, I will be leaving staff (just for a short term, hopefully) in a few days. I've had to really consider my priorities and those things that occupy my time, and with God's revelation, I think that being a CF staff member, whilst a thing that I hold dear to my heart, is something that I should step back from for a few months (or longer if He so desires it). It's been a long journey to say the least, so thank you to those who have said kind words, offered wisdom and insight, and made CF the great forum it is. If I return to staff in the future, I will resurrect this thread, but when I do leave staff, I will be asking one of the CF Support staff to close it for me.
God bless you all! :)
