My wife's grandmother, at 98, is dying. She is in a nursing home and after a couple of strokes is pretty much incoherent.
Past couple of days she's lost the ability to swallow. My wife's father has given instruction for no life saving actions to be taken and it looks like they are just going to let her dehydrate to death.
Why does something here seem not right?

Something similar happened when my grandmother died. Most of us were in agreement, but one sister and her husband felt like you do. It was hard, but we all made an effort to respect each other's difference of opinion while continuing to love each other. Still, it was a hard thing for our family.
:prayer: Praying for God's peace in your family and your grandmother's victorious entry into resurrection life.

Thanks to all for your prayers.
She shouldn't have to go out like this--not sure why her son (my father-in-law) is this way.
He buried his first wife when my wife was nine years old.
He buried a 43 year old son last November.
He doesn't deal with death well. He just wants everything to be over as quick as possible. Mother-in-law said Grammy had no quality of life.
Where's Dr. Kevorkian when you need him????

:( Very sad. Feeding someone and do-not-resuscitate orders are two different things.
I am praying for your grandmother.

Be comforted that the Good Lord took her into His Kingdom on his holy day. She suffers no more and is at peace with our Savior. May God send comfort to you and your family.

If she was hooked up to IV, she didn't need to take fluids orally, she was getting her fluids and nutrition through the IV.

There were no IVs.
