Well my wife's illness has resulted in her being terminated from her position at her company. I have to believe that God is setting things in motion for us to sell our house and move to a home that is about 1/2 the cost. My wife really wants to be a stay at home mother and our children are excited about the prospect. I ask that you pray that we are able to get the house in order to put on the market and that we are able to get as much money as possible to pay off our debts and put a nice size downpayment on the next house so as to keep our house pmts at a medium comfort level.
Just thought I would give y'all an update on our situation.

My prayers are with you.
Have you checked into whether the termination was proper under the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) or Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)? (I hope I don't sound like an ambulance chaser, but since I do some employment law, whenever I hear of a situation like that red flags go up).

From what I understand, Scott's wife was not eligible for FMLA because of her length of employment with this employer.

To my understanding she has only been with the company for 9 mos. She was out for 3 weeks and the doctor wants her out another 2 because she just wasnt improving. She is now on prednisone and it does seem to be working. FMLA does not protect you until you have been employed for at least a year. She is still on disability until the dr. says differently.
BTW she worked for The Hartford handling short and long-term disability claims.
We are in Minnesota so I don't know if you are up on Minnesota laws and how they pertain to FMLA.

I live 80 miles south of the MN border but am not licensed up there, so I don't know the particular state laws applicable up there. You're right about the FMLA.

Our County Hospital let a woman go because she missed too much work because he had a brain tumor. (he died last spring) As a side note, her brother- in- law died in boating crash on Lake Okoboji a couple of weks ago. He was a dentist in this town. We lost a dentist few years ago when his plane went down in the Rockies in Colorado.
Scott, I'll prayer for your family situation.

Scott,
I am keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. Times of testing are often unpleasant but are what really brings a family together. I hope that you and your wife can reach a real consensus on the decisions you must make.
God be with you.
