Hello my Lutheran brothers and sisters!
I was listening to a Christian talk radio show yesterday and the host was discussing a recent Lutheran conference. He was pleased that they chose to not ordain Gay clergy but was dissapointed that they did not cite doctrinal reasons for the decision. He was very upset that "inclusive " language can now be used in hymns. He mentioned somethng about no longer having to pray in the "name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit" but individual churches can now choose to pray in the "name of the Most High Majesty and the Incarnate Word and the Divine Spirit (?) " (or something like that).
What do you all think of this?

That Conference only dealt with the ELCA, only one part of Lutheranism
I would also warn you that not all information on talk shows will be accurate.
It does bother me that the vote was so close, but it doesn't bother me too much because I am not a member of that synod.
My Church will be praying, with the rest of the Christian Church, in the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost!

That Conference only dealt with the ELCA, the most liberal Branch of the Church.

The host did mention that it was the ELCA - sorry I should have mentioned that. I did not realize that it was liberal - thanks for the info.
I believe this host to be sincere and knowledgeable- this isn't to say that he never gets things wrong but I do not think he would intentionally deceive anybody. He does make a mess of Catholic doctrine but I excuse him because he gets his info from the secular media who , for all of their education and resources seem to have difficulty learning Catholic teaching.
I have a Catechism I have been meaning to sind this radio host.
While the Catholic Church has only one official teaching authority there is a not so insignificant element in the Church that buys into this inclusive nonsense. My nephew was told by a lib sister in his religion class to pray "in the name of the Creator, the Sanctifier and the somthing or other".
This stuff seems to be spreading. Glad to know that your Church is not buying into it.

I have to agree with Colabomb. Plus I'm kind of glad it didn't pass even though I'm not a member of the ECLA. My church is with the LCMS and the pastor still uses in the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.

I edited my post to be more respectful to my ELCA Brothers.
She quoted my original post correctly.

Nobody that I know of in the ELCA is going to be upset by being known as the most liberal. That's just a fact. It could simply be that way because we ordain women and the others don't, thus making the ELCA the most liberal. We don't mind facts being told about our synod.

I think this whole "inclusive" thing goes way to far. I mean, if the original was written that way, well. . .it was. But, I think it is so silly. Sorry (not really sorry, but to those who think inclusive hymns are the best things ever), God is my Father. He'll always be God the Father. It's always be Jesus Christ His only Son. It'll always be the Holy Spirit.
