View Full Version : The Grail

Hi guys

As the Lutheran and Catholic blessings totals are now a combined 7,000,000 (well very nearly!) I thought it'd be an idea to buy the grail communally - the plan at the end of the day is to share it around anyway, I think!

I posted a poll in the Catholic forum (http://www.christianforums.com/t1977802-how-about-joint-grail-ownership.html) and I'm saddened by the results and comments :(

Still, I guess it saves the embarrassment of OBOB saying yes, then coming here and you guys saying no... :D

Blessings,
Emma

I wouldn't be against this at all and I am, too, deeply saddened by the attitude of many on OBOB - and I'm saying this as a regular contributer to the Lutheran fund for the grail. I wouldn't be against it if our total were the higher one, either.

Well, I guess the Catholics have made up their mind. (I was quite upset by the one comment "if we found the real grail, would we share it? No!) That's not a very Christian attitude, if you ask me. . .

As far as I am concerned, we could just give them Martin's accumulated blessings so they could have the grail. No need to share.

It isn't the cup but the person who drank from it that is important to me.

True. . .and they're acting this way over a silly graphic on a computer, really! That's very sad and disheartening.

That would be my thoughts too. Just another icon!

I just kept giving to the fund because it was there and it was fun. I have no objections to giving the Catholics enough blessings to get it.

I agree. Please don't think Catholics are all like that. We are not :)

Wow!

What a gracious and Christ-like attitude! I hope you all decide to do that, I can't think of a kinder witness!

Uhh---where and how do we contribute. Can't find it

For the Lutherans, you go up to the stickies and find the one that says something like "Quest for the Holy Grail - Knights of the Schmalkaldic League." You go to the first post in that. It is by "Saint Martin Luther." You give blessings to "Saint Martin Luther."

I gotta go read the poll about this to figure it out :)

I don't think it is a good idea to give all the blessings to OBOB because people gave to it for the Lutherans to get the grail. If we had decided to give it to them in the first place that would have been fine, but a lot of people would feel ripped off.

Ah, Colabomb...this is a lot like "regifting"...you know those gifts you get from your Aunt Sally that really just don't cut it anymore for an 18 year old young man...so your mom gives them to the neighbor boy for his birthday? Surely your Aunt Sally did not buy the gift for the neighbor boy...but a gift is just that...a gift. No strings.

Send all the malcontents to me...I'll whack 'em. ;)

Was it a gift to an individual poster, or a contribution to a set common goal.

I am all for charity, and if we had originally been in it to give it to OBOB it would have been fine, but it wasn't.

I get your point Colabomb - thats why it'd be nice to buy it communally :)

Otherwise the saving of blessings will be wasted... but if they are all put into a communal pot now... da daaaaaaa! No wastage :D

I'm thinking of holding all the blessing holders to ransom, getting all the blessings, buying the grail, and giving it to Erwin on behalf of all CF members.

But I'm too shy. Anyone else want to volunteer?

Good point, if we could get everyone who donated to go in on it (on both sides) and we could agree how to share the grail, that would be neat.

But we do have a mountain to climb here.

Since there is a consensus to give the gift in Christian love and no one else yet has come forward, that contributed previously, to contest the gift, then it would be fit to gift the grail to the OBOB. Maybe we should wait awhile and see if anyone dissagrees. How does that sound Colabomb?

To be honest it is not my decision, I just recently converted to Lutheranism, and I have a very small amount in the pot.

I would like to share the grail, but it is not my decision.

That is all I am trying to say.

But, I'd not want to do that! I think it's great that the Lutherans are once again showing Christian love and charity here in saying "give them the blessings so they can buy the grail."

After all, it IS just a computer graphic, really. What good is it going to do for us other than sitting there? I just donate because it's fun. I have no other reason than that.

I think most people are doing a great thing and showing how God's grace works, too. I know you'd like some of the Catholics to definitely see that. I think we're being very Lutheran in our majority decision :)
