Okay, I know you guys aren't supposed to pray with non-Orthodox, and I know this isn't an Orthodox prayer (it's Roman Catholic). But it was a blessing to me (I'm not Roman Catholic), and I thought at a minimum you might enjoy reading it.

The Litany of Humility (Rafael Cardinal Merry de Val)

From the desire of being esteemed, deliver me Jesus.
From the desire of being loved, deliver me Jesus.
From the desire of being extolled, deliver me Jesus.
From the desire of being honored, deliver me Jesus.
From the desire of being praised, deliver me Jesus.
From the desire of being preferred, deliver me Jesus.
From the desire of being consulted, deliver me Jesus.
From the desire of being approved, deliver me Jesus.

From the fear of being humiliated, deliver me Jesus.
From the fear of being despised, deliver me Jesus.
From the fear of suffering rebukes, deliver me Jesus.
From the fear of being calumniated, deliver me Jesus.
From the fear of being forgotten, deliver me Jesus.
From the fear of being ridiculed, deliver me Jesus.
From the fear of being wronged, deliver me Jesus.
From the fear of being suspected, deliver me Jesus.

That others may be loved more than I, Jesus grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may be esteemed more than I, Jesus grant me the grace to desire it.
That, in the opinion of the world, others may increase and I may decrease, Jesus grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may be chosen and I set aside, Jesus grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may be praised and I unnoticed, Jesus grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may be preferred to me in everything, Jesus grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may become holier than I, provided that I may become as holy as I should, Jesus grant me the grace to desire it.

Nevermind, sorry for posting it here. I was just thinking about it and thought I'd share it. I realize it's not really appropriate for TAW.

With love in Christ,
Grace

I have prayed that prayer. Very good one (maybe I'm a bit biased ;)). Granted, I like the Eastern ways of humility, even better than the Western ones, which have virtually disappeared in many places in the Roman Catholic Church, sadly :(.

There is an Acathist Hymn to the Sweetest Jesus which is very similar to the above litany.

It might be in the Jordanville Prayer book. Anyone know?

Oblio would know. Anyone see him lately?

Here is a canon from the Acathist to the Sweetest Jesus:

In the abundance of Thy mercy, O compassionate Jesus,
Thou hast called publicans and sinners and unbelievers.
Now despise not me who am like unto them,
but accept this hymn as precious myrrh:

Jesus, invincible Power.
Jesus, unending Mercy.
Jesus, radiant Beauty.
Jesus, unspeakable Love.
Jesus, Son of the Living God.
Jesus, have mercy on me a sinner.Jesus harken unto me who was conceived in iniquity.
Jesus, cleanse me who was born in sin.
Jesus, teach me who am become foolish.
Jesus, enlighten me who am darkened.
Jesus, purify me who am defiled.
Jesus, restore me, the prodigal
Jesus, Son of God, have mercy on me.

If you notice, the emphasis is on Jesus Who heals and saves us.

We are the creatues; He is the Creator.
We are nothing without Jesus.

There's a difference between making it look like you're in agreement with whatever group is praying or praying with ppl who are praying to a different God, and appreciating beautiful prayers even if they didn't originate in Orthodoxy, if they aren't teaching bad theology...one that I like is the prayer attributed to St. Francis.

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace,
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy; O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Choirfiend beat me to it!

I also love the prayer of St. Francis of Assisi. J
