View Full Version : Is Yom Kippur the day of national redemption?

Israel's rejection of Jesus resulted in the message of the gospel being preached to all nations in order to make Israel jealous.

Romans 11:11-14 I say then, they did not stumble so as to fall, did they? May it never be! But by their transgression salvation has come to the Gentiles, to make them jealous. Now if their transgression is riches for the world and their failure means riches for the Gentiles, how much more will their fulfillment be! But I am speaking to you who are Gentiles. Inasmuch then as I am an apostle of Gentiles, I magnify my ministry, if somehow I might move to jealousy my fellow countrymen and save some of them.
But the Word declares that there will be a future generation of Israel that will corporately and nationally receive Jesus as Messiah. Romans 11:25-27 For I do not want you, brethren, to be uninformed of this mystery--so that you will not be wise in your own estimation--that a partial hardening has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in; and so all Israel will be saved; just as it is written,
“ THE DELIVERER WILL COME FROM ZION,
HE WILL REMOVE UNGODLINESS FROM JACOB."
" THIS IS MY COVENANT WITH THEM,
WHEN I TAKE AWAY THEIR SINS." The salvation of Israel occurs after the full number of Gentiles has entered into the Kingdom of the Son. The salvation of Israel then occurs. ...but when is then? There is only one feast that has corporate forgiveness... Yom Kippur.

Romans 11:15 For if their rejection is the reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead?

We read in the Jerusalem Talmud that the thirty years after Yeshua walked the earth til the distruction of the Temple, Yom Kippur was not a good omen day for the nation. The instructions in Leviticus 16:8 instructs that the first lot is for the LORD (YHWH), while the second lot is drawn for the scapegoat (azazel). The high priest (Cohen HaGadol) took the two lots (stones were used), one marked YHWH and the other marked Azazel, and placed one upon the head of each animal, sealing their fate. It was considered a good omen if the lot marked for the LORD was drawn by the priest in the right hand, but for 40 years prior to the destruction of the temple (Beit HaMikdash) in 70 AD, this lot was drawn by the priest on the left hand."Forty years before the destruction of the Temple, the western light went out, the crimson thread remained crimson, and the lot for the Lord always came up in the left hand. They would close the gates of the Temple by night and get up in the morning and find them wide open" (Jacob Neusner, The Yerushalmi, p.156-157). [the Temple was destroyed in 70 CE] A similar passage in the Babylonian Talmud states: "Our rabbis taught: During the last forty years before the destruction of the Temple the lot ['For the Lord'] did not come up in the right hand; nor did the crimson-colored strap become white; nor did the western most light shine; and the doors of the Hekel [Temple] would open by themselves" (Soncino version, Yoma 39b).

Another dramatic indication that something had gone wrong with the Temple sacrificial system between 30 AD and the destruction of the Temple in 70 AD concerns the tradition of tying a crimson cloth onto the scapegoat (look closely between the horns of the picture of the scapegoat in the right panel). A strip of this red cloth worn by the scapegoat was torn off and tied to the Temple door. Each year the red strip of cloth on the Temple door turned white as an indication that the Yom Kippur sacrifices were acceptable to the LORD. This annual event happened until 30 AD when the cloth then remained crimson each year until the time of the Temple's destruction.Isaiah 1:18 "Come now, let us reason together," says the LORD . "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.National, corporate forgiveness on Yom Kippur was no longer. Will building another temple and instituting the services bring reconciliation? I do not believe it will. It will take the acceptance of what Yeshua did for us and who Yeshua is to bring about the reconciliation.

Some Jews observe a ceremony on the afternoon of Rosh Hashanah called Tashlich, which means “you will cast.” It comes from a saying of the prophet Micah: “… and Thou wilt cast all their sins into the depth of the sea.” Those observing this tradition go to a river, pray, empty their pockets of lint and bread crumbs. As they throw these into a river, they believe that the water will carry their sins away.

The ministry of the Holy Spirit is to convict people of sin: John 16:8-17 "And when He comes, He will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment; concerning sin, because they do not believe in Me; and concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father and you no longer see Me; and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged.” The sin of blasphemy of the Spirit has been defined as it relates to each individual and their personal rejection of the ministry of the Holy Spirit. But blasphemy of the Spirit must also be defined in the light of the historic and cultural circumstances as it related to the nation of Israel as a corporate entity. Jesus rebuked the people of Israel of his day corporately calling them “a wicked and adulterous generation” (Mt 12:39).Matthew 12:41-42 The men of Nineveh will stand up with this generation at the judgment, and will condemn it because they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and behold, someone greater than Jonah is here. The Queen of the South will rise up with this generation at the judgment and will condemn it, because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold, someone greater than Solomon is here. Israel must first suffer through the time of Jacob's trouble. Jeremiah 30:7 Alas! For that day is great, So that none is like it; And it is the time of Jacob's trouble, But he shall be saved out of it. During the Ten Days of Awe, the LORD pours out a spirit of grace and supplication the nation of Israel. Zechariah 12:10 And in that day I will set about to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem. I will pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of grace and of supplication, so that they will look on Me whom they have pierced; and they will mourn for Him, as one mourns for an only son, and they will weep bitterly over Him like the bitter weeping over a firstborn. Yom Kippur is the most holy, most solemn day for the Jewish people. It is the last day of the High Holy Days which began on Rosh Hashanah. Many Jewish people spend the entire day in the synagogue, praying and fasting in the hope that their sins will be forgiven and that they will be written in the Lamb's Book of Life for the coming year. The synagogue service begins with Kol Nidre which means “all vows.” This special prayer asks forgiveness for promises made to God which have been broken by accident. During the afternoon service, the Book of Jonah is read. At the close of the evening service, the shofar is blown for one long blast, the first and only time on Yom Kippur.

Not only is the Book of Jonah a picture of God's grace and salvation being offered to the Gentiles, but it also foreshadows the miraculous sign that identified Israel's true Messiah: Matthew 12:38-40 Then some of the Pharisees and teachers of the law said to him, "Teacher, we want to see a miraculous sign from you." He answered, "A wicked and adulterous generation asks for a miraculous sign! But none will be given it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. The most solemn and holy day for the Jewish people is the Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur), when the entire Book of Jonah is read. Yeshua, the Lamb of God, proved He was the one true acceptable atonement offering. This is one feast that very few gentiles keep. Spiritual Jews will keep the feasts including Yom Kippur.

A Lot to think about here. The way I see it Israel is stuck in the middle of prophetic events. They are being recalled from the lands and the land itself is blossoming but they have not turned their hearts back to the Lord and to keep his commandments. When they do, prophecy will move forward. Perhaps it is the tribulation that will move their hearts toward God. All the world including the believers in Yeshua will go through the tribulation and it is going to have profound effects on all. But here is the picture of the events of the national redemption:

DT 30:1 And it shall come to pass, when all these things are come upon thee, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before thee, and thou shalt call them to mind among all the nations, whither the LORD thy God hath driven thee, [2] And shalt return unto the LORD thy God, and shalt obey his voice according to all that I command thee this day, thou and thy children, with all thine heart, and with all thy soul; [3] That then the LORD thy God will turn thy captivity, and have compassion upon thee, and will return and gather thee from all the nations, whither the LORD thy God hath scattered thee. [4] If any of thine be driven out unto the outmost parts of heaven, from thence will the LORD thy God gather thee, and from thence will he fetch thee: [5] And the LORD thy God will bring thee into the land which thy fathers possessed, and thou shalt possess it; and he will do thee good, and multiply thee above thy fathers. [6] And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live. [7] And the LORD thy God will put all these curses upon thine enemies, and on them that hate thee, which persecuted thee. [8] And thou shalt return and obey the voice of the LORD, and do all his commandments which I command thee this day. [9] And the LORD thy God will make thee plenteous in every work of thine hand, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy land, for good: for the LORD will again rejoice over thee for good, as he rejoiced over thy fathers: [10] If thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which are written in this book of the law, and if thou turn unto the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul.
DT 30:11 For this commandment which I command thee this day, it is not hidden from thee, neither is it far off. [12] It is not in heaven, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it? [13] Neither is it beyond the sea, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it? [14] But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it.
DT 30:15 See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil; [16] In that I command thee this day to love the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the LORD thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it. [17] But if thine heart turn away, so that thou wilt not hear, but shalt be drawn away, and worship other gods, and serve them; [18] I denounce unto you this day, that ye shall surely perish, and that ye shall not prolong your days upon the land, whither thou passest over Jordan to go to possess it. [19] I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: [20] That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.

ISA 56:1 Thus saith the LORD, Keep ye judgment, and do justice: for my salvation is near to come, and my righteousness to be revealed. [2] Blessed is the man that doeth this, and the son of man that layeth hold on it; that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and keepeth his hand from doing any evil.
ISA 56:3 Neither let the son of the stranger, that hath joined himself to the LORD, speak, saying, The LORD hath utterly separated me from his people: neither let the eunuch say, Behold, I am a dry tree. [4] For thus saith the LORD unto the eunuchs that keep my sabbaths, and choose the things that please me, and take hold of my covenant; [5] Even unto them will I give in mine house and within my walls a place and a name better than of sons and of daughters: I will give them an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off. [6] Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the LORD, to serve him, and to love the name of the LORD, to be his servants, every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant; [7] Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people. [8] The Lord GOD which gathereth the outcasts of Israel saith, Yet will I gather others to him, beside those that are gathered unto him.

As for the Yom Kippur, Yeshua has fulfilled that once for all. There remains now no sacrifice for sin. When we look at the Milennial Kingdom in EZ 40-48 we see the temple service and all the festivals except Yom Kippur which is missing all together.

Think about the three and 1/2 year ministry both for Yeshua in the first coming and then for the two witnesses before the second coming.

The Festivals of the LORD are the ordained "Appointed Times" of God's ceremonial calendar for Israel. These seasonal feasts are prophetic pictures of the Messiah. "No one knows about that day or hour," but we have been given the signs of that season. "The Festivals of the LORD" as types of Messiah Colossians 2:16-17 Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.

Prophectic fulfillment of Yom Kippur has not been fulfilled, just the spring time feasts were fulfilled with Yeshua's first coming, so also I believe that the fall feasts will have their prophectic fulfillment before the second coming. Think about the three and 1/2 year ministry both for Yeshua in the first coming and then for the two witnesses before the second coming.

I know a lot of people say this but I do not think it is accurate. In Hebrews we see that Yeshua is already our high priest and has entered the most holy place with his own blood. Passover was about redemption from Satanic power, and the second part of his death was about Atonement. All the feasts are about the Lords redemptive work.

Passover is also a picture of the Tribulation. First fruits was the resurrection, but it is also the harvest of the fist fruits of the New covenant.

The day of Trumpets was the anouncement of his birth by the angels, and it is also the day of the resurrection in the 2nd comming. Atonement took place at the cross, but it also points to the day of Judgement when the nations are gathered before the Lord after the tribulation. Tabernacles is about his dwelling with us. It was the time of his birth the first time, but it is also about his establishing the Kingdom on earth and dwelling with us.

So the festivals are not cleanly divided into spring as the first coming and fall as the second coming.

We are forgiven now and washed by his blood and as you have pointed out, after the death and resurrection, the signs like the ribbon and the lot for Azazel did not happen. This is because the Atonement was made by Yeshua. And as we see there is not day of Atonement in the Millenial Kingdom. Because our sins are remembered no more hidden even behind God's own back so that he can not se them. He wants us to not even be able to think about how it used to be.

I hope you see what I am saying. all the festivals are about Messiah. They are all historical, they all point to his first coming, and they all point to his second coming. It is a threefold fulfillment.

We will suffer with them because we all are going through the Tribulation. The pretrib doctrine is a fantasy like a Jackalope.

CharlesI know two jews three opinions. It is the two goats to choose from on Yom Kippur and the focus on the work of cleansing the sanctuary by the High Priest for national atonement that has not occured. In Daniel’s prophecy the Prince of princes is none other that Yeshua, who is currently officiating in the heavenly sanctuary. When the Antichrist stops the offering of the daily sacrifice it will be at the Temple of God in the outer court. So you ask “how can the daily sacrifice be stopped by Satan?” If Satan can stop people from praying for repentance, there is no need for the daily sacrifice and its service. If Satan can get people to not look to Yeshua, for one reason or another, then there is no need for Yeshua to perform the daily sacrifice priestly service. Maybe they believe Satan to be Yeshua. This is the two goats before the sanctuary. 2 Thessalonians 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
Satan will be doing a great imitation of the second coming of Yeshua before Yeshua returns and if they believe Satan to be Yeshua then you will have no more requests for forgiveness, no more repentance and therefore no more need for the heavenly daily services. Let’s say the world no longer repents for they now believe it is no longer necessary because they live under His Grace or some other deceptive lie fostered by some institution that they have trusted to be keepers of the truth. These keepers of the truth have taken upon themselves to lead the people away from the truth as it is found in Christ.
Revelation 17:8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is. 9 And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth. 10 And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space. 11 And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition. If we do not look at the feasts for directions as to the order of the prophecies, we will not see how it will all play out.

A slight change in subject. Shifting to Daniel 12 because you mention the Antichrist putting an end to the daily sacrifice. There is another way to read Daniel 12:11. It says there are two things that will take place before the countdown of 1290 days of tribulation will begin. The end of daily sacrifices, and the abomination in the holy place. The two signs do not have to be the same event or at the same time. Perhaps the sacrifices ending was the events surrounding the 70 AD destruction of the Temple. And the second sign the abomination in the holy place is all that has to take place. AsI read Daniel 9 there is no scriptural foundation for a rebuilding of a physical temple. Perhaps the abomination is what takes place in the Temple of the body of believers, when the false Messiah is acepted as the true messiah by the deceived church.

So the two events take place before the start of the 1290 days clock. But the first sign already happened and then there is a long undefined span of time until the second of the precurser signs takes place. But that leaves only one sign and no need for a temple to be built first.

Just my thoughts on this.

With a false concept of justification, faith, sanctification and grace, people under a great deception will unwittingly, unknowingly be serving another god. As we get into the ministry in the Holy Place and the Most Holy, you will see how the daily sacrifice can be stopped.

The Bible does give us clues as to when does the 2300 day period starts. Gabriel himself said: Daniel 8:17 For at the time of the end shall be the vision. 19 And he said, Behold, I will make thee know what shall be in the last end of the indignation: for at the time appointed the end shall be. 23 And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, 26 And the vision of the evening and the morning which was told is true: wherefore shut thou up the vision; for it shall be for many days.' Anytime you see appointed time, time appointed, it is pointing to the feasts, for these are the Lord's appointed times.

The daily sacrifice of this part of the prophetic vision that Daniel seen is this desecration of the heavenly sanctuary for 2300 days and it will occur at the time appointed. When is the time appointed? At the time of the end, in the last end of the indignation, when transgressors are come to the full. Transgressors at the end of time will be without restraint, they will be in full control of the world but out of control mentally, it is at the end of indignation, at the end of time, at the appointed time. Gabriel told Daniel to shut up the vision; meaning seal it up as it was not to occur in his lifetime or as stated for many days in verse 26. It will occur before the Saviour returns to earth. Which means it can start up at any time here in the near future. God has onl;y one time in which He judges at the is on Yom Kippur. Jeremiah 8:7 Yea, the stork in the heaven knoweth her appointed times; and the turtle and the crane and the swallow observe the time of their coming; but my people know not the judgment of the LORD. Now knowing the judgement of the Lord has an appointed time, called the Day of Atonement, it is important to learn more about this appointed time and what to expect. I want you to understand that when the Lord comes to His temple it will be fast, suddenly. For those that are prepared for it , this will be a time of great rejoicing, for those who are unprepared it will be the judgement that they so feared.

The 2300 days I believe we addressed recently. But as a remider, the 2300 days is really in the Hebrew 2300 Mornings and evening, and is given in reference to how long the daily oblation is stopped. There are tw o sacrifices per day, one in the evening and one in the morning. So the 2300 oblations is a reference to 1150 days. In the days of Antiochus, which this prophecy is really about, t was 1150 days (by a pretty close count) from the abomination when the Idol was placed on the altar and when the Macabees liberated Jerusalem and purged the temple. This prophecy seems to have had its fulfillment in 165 BC.

This prophecy seems to have had its fulfillment in 165 BC.I have no problem with that being a fulfillment but do not see it as the ultimate fulfillment. God can use His prophecies as many times as need by to get the full fufillment. As it says in Col 2:17 "shadow of things to come" are the feasts.

The 2300 day prophecy was given to prepare the mind of men, for the coming of God to His temple, which is your mind, for the final cleansing necessary, or for the judgment of the mind that will not stay cleansed. Do you remember the story that Yeshua told about the house that was cleansed of demons and later after the demons came back to find the house cleaned, and they gather legions to fill this house, which Yeshua declared was worse than the first.

Luke 11:24 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, I will return unto my house whence I came out. 25 And when he cometh, he findeth it swept and garnished. 26 Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first.

So it is at the time of the final cleansing, when the Little Horn enters the heavenly sanctuary anf stops the daily sacrifice. There is no one to save people from their sins. Deuteronomy 28:29 And thou shalt grope at noonday, as the blind gropeth in darkness, and thou shalt not prosper in thy ways: and thou shalt be only oppressed and spoiled evermore, and no man shall save thee. There will be nothing stopping the demons from entering the minds of men, and then the most terrifying period of earth's history will begin. We know this because there will be, for that period of time, no daily sacrifice in the heavenly sanctuary and therefore no mediator between God and sinful man! Judges 10:13 Yet ye have forsaken me, and served other gods: wherefore I will deliver you no more.

It may just be the way I'm built but my mind is always on prophetic events....past ,present, and future. I believe that may not be so important to many people and that's normal...ABBA gives his kids a passion for different things and that's good....we're all built in different ways so we can fulfill a certain calling...His choice not ours....

The daily sacrifice which embodies all the merits of the Savior's blood securing pardon, cleansing and protection to those who trust and obey is gone. When this daily sacrifice is blocked by the workings of the devil in overwhelming delusions and deception, then you have an unrestrained Satanic reign of terror throughout the universe. Isaiah 66:4 I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called, none did answer; when I spake, they did not hear: but they did evil before mine eyes, and chose that in which I delighted not.How far can the pendelum swing into insanity before the people cry out unto the Lord to save them? Thessalonians 2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:On earth a time of trouble encloses mankind in the insanity that dwells in the minds of Satan and his demons. Troubles of the kind never been seen before, nor will ever be seen again. Deuteronomy 4:30 When thou art in tribulation, and all these things are come upon thee, even in the latter days, if thou turn to the LORD thy God, and shalt be obedient unto his voice; 31 (For the LORD thy God is a merciful God;) he will not forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them. 32 For ask now of the days that are past, which were before thee, since the day that God created man upon the earth, and ask from the one side of heaven unto the other, whether there hath been any such thing as this great thing is, or hath been heard like it? 33 Did ever people hear the voice of God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as thou hast heard, and live? 34 Or hath God assayed to go and take him a nation from the midst of another nation, by temptations, by signs, and by wonders, and by war, and by a mighty hand, and by a stretched out arm, and by great terrors, according to all that the LORD your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes? 35 Unto thee it was shewed, that thou mightest know that the LORD he is God; there is none else beside him. 36 Out of heaven he made thee to hear his voice, that he might instruct thee: and upon earth he shewed thee his great fire; and thou heardest his words out of the midst of the fire.
God has provide a place for His believers, and they shall dwell in His Temple, His pavillion, His tabernacle, during the time of trouble that is unlike any other time in human history. God will deliver everyone that is written in the book at that time. Psalm 9:9 The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.IT will take some very hard knocks at the door of the Jews before they will see Yeshua as their savior. Psalm 27:5 For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.Christians do not know where the pavillion is, they have not studied the secret of the tabernacle where we are hid. The Jews by faith have known an studied the tabernacle, the feasts, and when the light comes on for them and they see Yeshua as their High Priest they will be ready for the atonement that come on Yom Kippur. Daniel 12:1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.Scripture tells us that during this time the Man of Sin, the Little Horn, the Antichrist will sit on the throne of God and proclaim himself God Almighty! 2 Thess.2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4: Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshiped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.The Jewish nation in shock realising the prophectic fulfillment of the scapegoat before the congregation. They by faith look to the sanctuary to which it has been the illustration of and see the one who is there ministring as their Hig Priest. It will be the prophectic miracle promised in scripture. Mark 13:33 Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is. 34 For the Son of Man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch. 35 Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: 36 Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping. 37 And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.

Day of Atonement

26 The LORD said to Moses, 27 "The tenth day of this seventh month is the Day of Atonement. Hold a sacred assembly and deny yourselves, and present an offering made to the LORD by fire. 28 Do no work on that day, because it is the Day of Atonement, when atonement is made for you before the LORD your God. 29 Anyone who does not deny himself on that day must be cut off from his people. 30 I will destroy from among his people anyone who does any work on that day. 31 You shall do no work at all. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come, wherever you live. 32 It is a sabbath of rest for you, and you must deny yourselves. From the evening of the ninth day of the month until the following evening you are to observe your sabbath." Sanctification can be found in the Day of Atonement. As the process by which God purifies the believer, sanctification’s first start in the believer’s new life is at the sacrificial death of Christ. Apostle Paul noted that God has chosen and reconciled us to Himself in Christ for the purpose of receiving the final sanctification Ephesians 1:4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:In Temple times, the priesthood sounded three trumpet blasts every morning to announce the opening of the Temple gates. So too, it is believed, that the first trumpet blasts of the Feast of Trumpets announce the opening of the gates of Heaven. This is traditional Feast of Trumpets image is fully employed in

Revelation 4:1 After this I looked, and, behold a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.

In this tradition, the gates of Heaven are opened to receive our prayers of repentance and remain open until the conclusion of the Day of Atonement. This will be our opportunity to be shown the things which must be hereafter, the soon to come to pass in the last hours of earth’s history. Those things that we need to know and understand to be able to stand in the last days. The Day of Atonement service is concluded with one long trumpet blast which announces that the gates of heaven have closed and judgement is complete. Therefore, the sound of the trumpet on Feast of Trumpets is a remembrance of the need to repent before judgement is made. Since the two witness are preaching repentance, it would not be surprising that they start at Jerusalem.Luke 24:47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. In Jewish observance, the intervening days between the Feast of Trumpets and the Day of Atonement are called the "Awesome Days."

On the Day of Atonement, there will be the coming of the Lord to His temple, your mind. The second coming, and the coming of the Lord to His temple, are distinct and separate events. The Day of Atonement is the coming to His temple and the Feast of Tabernacles is the second coming. The coming of the Lord to His temple, Malachi foretells as the judgment. Before the Lord comes to the temple, he will send “my messenger” to prepare the way just as John, the Baptist prepared the way with a call to repentance before Yeshua began His ministry. Malachi with these words prophetically pointed out that this coming will be harder to abide by for some. It will be for the believers, the messenger of the covenant that they have waited for: Malachi 3:1 Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the LORD, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts. 2 But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner's fire, and like fullers' soap: 3 And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness. 4 Then shall the offering of Judah and Jerusalem be pleasant unto the LORD, as in the days of old, and as in former years. 5 And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right, and fear not me, saith the LORD of hosts.Because the Feast of Trumpets is the New Year's Day (that is the anniversary of the completion of creation) it is also the end of the heavenly fiscal year. As at the end of our calendar year, New Years Day is the day when the ledgers must be settled. On the Feast of Trumpets, the books of judgement are opened and all the deeds of each person are reviewed by the heavenly court for judgement. Ten days later, on Day of Atonement, everyone's name will be written and sealed for final judgement in either the Book of Life or the Book of Death. Revelation 7:1 And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree. 2 And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea 3 saying, hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, til we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.

Can you imagine such a day when the "christians" will be saying this that they have been taught all these years could not possibly be wrong. Yet the Jews who in the light of the Holy Spirit acknowledge Yeshua as their Savior speak out and say, God's religion is straight from Mount Sinai and Yeshua has given it to the world as it is, unchanged, and still in force as it will be in the Kingdom to come.

The Feast of Trumpets is a remembrance of things yet to come. Revelation trumpets are a foretaste of the things to come in full blast when there is no more repentence. It is a memorial of things that have not happened yet. Only with God can something be remembered before it has occurred! The Feast of Trumpets remembers the future work of Christ.

Perhaps it is the obscurity of the future which accounts for the Bible's silence regarding the festival's meaning. The Feast of Trumpets's final fulfillments are still shrouded in the future. If so, then the sound of the trumpet on Feast of Trumpets reminds us to listen for the sound of the trumpet in Revelation.

Study the trumpets because

1. It is a new year, a new event, a new understanding, a new message, and a new beginning.

2. Revelation talks about the seven trumpets as events that are to shake people of this world up and try get them to see differently.

3. The Feast of Trumpets is designed for a purpose...preparing the people for the Day of Atonement.

Awake sleeper...
Mark 13:35 Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping, and what I day unto you I say unto all, watch. So what are we to wake up for Mark 13:28 Mark 13:36 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; when her branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is near: So ye in like manner, when ye shall see these things come to pass, know that it is nigh, even at the doors. verily I say unto you that, this generation shall not pass, till all these thing be done. What are we to understand. When you shall see the abomination of Desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not..." verse 14There was two stories that Yeshua told, one regarding marriage, and one about the king returning to His kingdom. It is in these parable that we are to see Yeshua as the Bridegroom and soon to be wed and the other where as the crowned King returning to claim what is His. Let us go over the Ten Virgins Parable in Matt 25:1-13 Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins which took their lamps and went forth to meet the bridegroom. Now the difference in the two groups is that one group had kept their lamps full, in preparation for this event, the others had not. Compare this parable with the one about the wedding guest that was not dressed and see the similarity there.

Oil in the Word is used in a variety of ways but the most Holy was in the Temple is where the golden candlestick stood. We can see in heaven in Revelation to fullness of the meaning of the lamp stand and that it is the Holy Spirit ( or seven-fold spirit) of God. The oil in the bridesmaids lamps is representative of this seven-fold spirit whom we must ask daily to fill us so that we may walk with him in truth and in the right path, so that we will not be the subject to the verdict "Depart from me, I never knew you"Amen.. Oh this is getting exciting.Rev 1:20 The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks...are the angels of the seven churches and the churches. There are seven messages from God represented by the seven churches and seven spirits which is the perfect number. We must need to walk in spiritual truth is a daily growth in knowledge, acceptance, and birth of a new lifestyle based upon that new wisdom from God. Isa 11:2 And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord; (and quick understanding) Matt 22:2-14 "the kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son, and sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come.....all things are ready: come unto the marriage. But they made light of it and went their ways" How many people today make light of the Day of Atonement and not see the wedding....even when the feast of trumpets should have woken them up to the event?
"there was a man which had not a wedding garment"....so even if you are called in at the last minute to the wedding you need to be prepared because if you are not you "will be cast into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth."

So it is very important to be ready Rev 3:20 "and ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately." Why would they open unto him immediately...because they were expecting him, looking forward to this moment, and knew what to expect when he arrives. Luke 12:37 Blessed are those servants, whom the Lord when he cometh shall find watching" verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them. And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants." This is a special time when the Lord is dishing out meat, the big juicy stuff that would take mature believers to swallow. Numbers 10:2-3 Make two silver trumpets for yourself; you shall make them of hammered work; you shall use them for calling the congregation and for directing the movement of the camps. When they blow both of them, all the congregation shall gather before you at the door of the tabernacle of meeting. We have yet to see "the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand) then let them that are in Judaea flee to the mountains." Mark 13:14 We have the admonition from Yeshua himself to understand what the adomination of desolation is that is spoken of by Daniel and that it is the key to understanding. Many have tried to understand the beasts, horns, and events that the prophet spoke off. This is the time when it is necessary to leave the outer court. As it is prophesied in Daniel, the outer court and its daily sacrifices of the sanctuary services will be taken away, by the overflowing abominations. Daniel 9:26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for Himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations were determined.Daniel, himself, wanted to know but the Lord told him that the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end. Daniel 12:9. John the Revelator did see that time when the book is opened and it was sweet as honey and as soon as it was eaten bitter to the belly. Rev 10:10 This occurs in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.

A couple of notes...

Remember that the Virgins that didn't renew the oil were still virgins. That is, they were pure, holy and undefiled - but they were still rejected.

We see a similar thing unfolding in Revelations when God speaks to the Seven Churches. Knowing that these Churches are the elect of God, the true Israel, but still 'I have some what against you.' Of course, it was only one that was found totally blameless, that of Phildelphia.

I spose its a starke reminder of the severity of Gods judgement against the Church. 'A little leaven leveneth the whole lump.'.

Although I'm young in Faith, and have not come to fully grasp the meaning of the Festivals, especially that of Trumpets and Atonement, I can feel the impending day of Judgement against the Church. It is something that continually haunts my mind and soul, its hard to understand or describe.

May God continue to bless you with wisdom and revelation Vis. I have learnt much from this thread. Many thanks.

Shabbat Shalom to all,

Matt James
