I am not leaving CF or anything, but I have realized that I have to change alot more before I can accept some of the things that you believe. Part of me tells me that this is not possible. So for whatever reason I am not feeling as drawn to the Orthodox church as I was. I hit more than a few walls, and because my finite brain is having trouble with certain areas of belief, (I don't think I should comment here on these issues either, perhaps to a priest instead) maybe I should just take a break from studying Orthodoxy.

Not too mention it is like trying to find a needle in a haystack for anyone to have Orthodox materials that are not over priced or the right selection I am looking for.

Just feeling frustrated, and a bit tired at the moment.

So thanks for answering the questions that I have had, and I hope that if I have more you will answer them for me :)

Absolutley Bud, we’re always here for you. J

God bless you on your journey.

In XC,

Maureen

P.S. If at some point, you want to ask a priest a question about Orthodoxy anonymously, you can contact Fr. John Matusiak and Fr. Thomas Hopko at info@oca.org and they will usually respond within a day or two. They run the Q&A section at oca.org and are very kind and helpful. :)

That's a wise approach Bud. Such things should never be entered into lightly .

Bud, the first Orthodox service I attended was in 1990. We are scheduled to enter the church next month.

There's no rush.

Bud,

Glad to have helped at least answer the questions you had so far!! You had questions about our peripheral beliefs, but as always, Christ is at the center of everything, and it is our beliefs about Christ that are vital.
And yea, you can't find Orthodox materials in secular or other "Christian Bookstores." They simply don't carry it--the church library or internet suppliers or Orthodox publishers is where we get materials.

Keep searching and thirsting after Christ, for He answers those who seek Him. May God draw you close during your journey, keep you from discouragement, and bless you~

Everytime I hit a snag like this studying Orthodoxy, the same thought comes to me each time, ..... this is the way the Holy Spirit is leading me, and this is what the Holy Spirit says is true! The "snag" is within me, not Orthodoxy. It enables me to continue studying.

Bud,

I feel for you! God loves you whether you end up Orthodox or not...and it's better to take your time and really think things over than to jump in feet first and find out later that the culture-gap was too great after all. Orthodoxy is very different and it is not for everyone. It is better to be in a place where your faith can thrive. If Orthodoxy is not the place where your faith flowers, then God has provided a lot of diversity and options out there. I hope you find what you need!

I disagree, I think Orthodoxy IS for everyone. Not everyone wants it though.
