Thirteen people, including bus passengers and two policemen, were wounded in the shooting, which appeared linked to tensions over the upcoming Israeli pullout from the Gaza Strip and parts of the West Bank.

The military identified the dead soldier as Pvt. Eden Natan-Zada, a resident of the Jewish settlement of Tapuah in the West Bank. Natan-Zada's father, Yitzhak, told The Associated Press his son ran away from his army unit several weeks ago after being told he would have to participate in the Gaza pullout.

Shalom:

I have just watched the video on the CNN site. Their "analysis" implies that this atrocity was committed to stir up reprisals from the Palestinians to tie up the IDF rather than to continue the pull out from Gaza.

The "sound bytes" from the Palestinian representative was certainly predictable and provocative...

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem and Israel.

Jewish Extremeist ?

If the Palestinian had killed a Jew he would be called a freedom fighter or some such noble title. No slant in our news right?

I am suspicious and smell a setup how does a mob bludgeon an armed Israeli to death the fact that his face was specifically covered with a black bag looks like a setup to me.

It just so easily falls into Sharons demonising of anti disengagement protestors.

Why protest in a part of Israel not part of the Disengagement and against Israeli Arabs it is not logical know if he was that upset about the disengagement then he would surely having targeted those involved in the disengagement process.

The monitoring committee of the Israeli Arab leadership called on the government to refrain from investigating the death of Eden Natan Zada, who was lynched by an angry mob after he murdered four Israeli Arabs in the northern town of Shfaram on Thursday.
MK Mohammed Barakeh warned on Saturday that protests could erupt if police probe Zada's lynching.

According to Barakeh, the crowd attacked Zada out of concern he would continue with his shooting rampage. He denied that Zada was beaten after being handcuffed by police.
