I went to a christian rock concert at the other church I went to. I thought it was neat.

Who played? A known band? A local band?

A local band from the church. I really enjoyed it though

That's cool. I enjoy a lot of the bands in concert. . .if the music isn't too hard. It can be hard if it's not too loud, but that never happens at a concert.

I've been to quite a few concerts. . .ones by popular artists.

I've never really been to a concert done by a band. I have been in a church where they had a band, though.

Glad you enjoyed the one you attended.

I may tell my pastor about them, he may want to have them over for the youth at our church or setup some kind of community concert or something.

Really?

He is a little bit too loud for me. Liked him in Lethal Weapon 4 though. ;)

A lot of kids and grownups like rock and if its christian rock, maybe it will get a message across to someone that don't go to church.

While a great sentiment, this is not necessarily a proven. What people need to hear is the word of God and not some musician musings on what the word says.

I used to work in Christian pop radio and the only people that would go to these concerts would be people who are already Christian in their walk.

Sorry Scott, that's just not true at all. Many people attend these concerts. . .from all walks of life. I've seen it myself. . .at almost every Christian concert I've attended. You can't really judge from working in radio. . .you don't really get the ministry aspect part. . .I've talked to the Christian radio people here. . .it's the ministers and church volunteers that come and help out that really see the difference. That's what they've told me, anyway.

JESUS is my rock...and HE rolled my blues away!...

Haha. . I know that song (it's by Tony Congi). I don't know how many times we sang that darn thing at times for youth service Sundays. . .ugh. . .finally got to quit singing it in services when I was pushed to plan them rather than the girls who just threw things together (they had since "left" the youth group, mostly).

Jesus is the rock and He rolls my blues away. Jesus is the rock and He rolls my blues away. Jesus is the rock and he rolls my blues away.

When you're out on the street and you're really feelin' down and low (bop bop, bop shoo wop) When you're out on the street and you got no place to go (bop bop bop shoo wop) When you're out on the street, well, Jesus gonna save your soul.

Jesus is the rock. . .

When you look in the mirror and your face causes it to crack. . .

Cute, but that's about it, really. . .

I saw Hawk Nelson back in May 2004. They were touring with Plus One. . .along with Telecast as well. I wasn't really impressed. All those guys did was jump up and down and around in circles. The teenie bopper girls screamed because they thought the guys were cute. That was it. People didn't even stay for Plus One!

This year was better with FFH. . .MUCH better.

Whats wrong with entertainment, and Lawrence Welk, as long as it doesn't draw one away from Christ.... I do have an accordian around here somewhere.

Years ago, when I was in a Christian rock band, I often times wondered how much preaching to the choir we were doing as compared to outreach. My rough survey suggested it was close to 90% preaching to the choir. However, for the remaining 10%, some were touched. If it were only one, I would say that is enough. Still the sinful man that I am, still wanted to see numbers and results, rather than letting God take care of things, and the preaching to the choir thing bothered me. Years later, God showed me a seed that had been planted. At that point, it no longer bothered me.

If we look at the duties of the church as called out in Hebrew's and Timothy, Christian entertainment, whether it be rock, opera, classical, or even polka can serve as encouragement within the body of believers. It should not however replace the assembly, love, or good deeds.

I don't look at Christian Rock as outreach. I know some do, but to me it is purely entertainment.

If you are trying to reach the unsaved, than Christian Rock probably won't work, but if you realize what it is, an entertainment industry, than I have no problem.

Not just the sinful part, but also the scientist in you. Your work conditions you to look for results in numbers.

Years later, God showed me a seed that had been planted. At that point, it no longer bothered me.

Some seed falls on fertile ground, some falls on rock and yet other seed falls in the thorns and weeds.
