Where does Torah prohibit the use of pig skin or any other unclean animal?

Lev 19:7 while the pig is unclean for you, because, although it has a separate and completely divided hoof, it doesn't chew the cud. 8 You are not to eat meat from these or touch their carcasses; they are unclean for you. this only means dead bodies? not the skin in general?
i ask b/c a friend asked and I seriously went "I don't know"
lol. ignorant moments

A "carcass" is a dead animal laying there, well, dead.
The pigskin used to make a football however, has been separated from the rest of the animal, processed, and had something done to it to make it hard... so, IMO, it wouldn't be the same thing as a "carcass" anymore.

Okay.
And I guess I could have also answered this by example... Aren't seals unclean animals? And yet seal skins are used to cover part of the Mishkan, correct? *searching for scriptures*....

When a skin has been passed through water it is then clean, so you may touch pigskin/football/Hushpuppies and remain clean.

so when something is cleansed, it is clean...? ok.
just skin? like if someone dunked a dead body in living water, it wouldn't change how clean or unclean it is?

The football was originally made from pigskin, and that term carries on. Today, however, most footballs are made of cattle hides or synthetic materials.

just skin? like if someone dunked a dead body in living water, it wouldn't change how clean or unclean it is?Just the leather made from the skin of a non kosher animal, or camel hair when it is washed it is rendered clean. The person who skinned the animal would be unclean for the specified length of time and would be required to obey the commandments to make himself ceremonially clean to enter the Temple. It is not permanant, just cost you time and money when you have been declared clean.

There is no need... as another person here pointed out virtually no footballs today are made from pigskin. Whether or not the synthetics are kosher is beyond my knowledge, but it is not pig.

However, for other reasons I would avoid touching anything of pig/swine, I believe there is another more deeper spiritual meaning about the pig being unclean.
