They are horrible - please bring back the old armor - those of us who don't want a silly dolly by our usernames have nothing - anyway what happened to all my armor I bought - do I get some kind of credit note?

Geez....if I'd seen this before I posted over on the other board, I wouldn't have been so kind over there. Shall I mosey back over and start picking your stuff apart?

/me thinks she may actually use her ignore feature for the first time. Ever.

my vote is to keep them... I randomly switch between this normal looking dude in all black with a big sword to an old dude with a cane... it's nice. Always have the ferret though

I'm guessing you're joking about the ignore option!! I think I'll skip back over to the chalet I think - I still don't like them, but I respect the hard work put into creating them....and Libby I wasn't picking them apart, just stating my dislike of them - a personal opinion, and valid imo. As for my stuff, there was little hard work put into them, but pick them apart if you wish - it won't offend me in the slightest...

Ok fine..don't like them. Voice your opinion that you don't like them. You won't be the first to do so, and I seriously doubt you'll be the last. A bit more tact in your verbiage would be nice though.

Actually, the thingies are rather creative in and of themselves. It's the existential question of "Why thingies?" that troubles me.

Why NOT thingies?:)

LITB

Look - I just want to say that the way I described my dislike of the characters, has obviously been received in a way that, had I known it would cause that kind of offense, I certainly would not have used them. So look, Libby and Knight, and anyone else who has taken offense, let me say that the intent was simply not there, not in the way you took it anyway. I can only imagine, as Libby suggested earlier that this is a cultural thing - if I said that here, it really wouldn't cause that kind of reaction, not in the way it was meant to come across.

So sorry - I'm really not an unpleasant person (well I try not to be) and don't get into conflict with people as a rule, plus I do have quite a dry sense of humour. The whole thread over on CoC was not meant as a viscious attack, but more of a tongue in cheek kind of attack.

I don't want to fall out with people and it's not the kind of thing I do...

So how about if I just put it this way...they are a great idea, but I personally don't like them very much....

Can I put in my two cents???
Liberty Chic, I love the work that everyone has put into this whole character thing. Of course they still need a lot of work. (Hints the armor requests.) But, (yes, I have a big but,) these characters are an awesome way to show off what armor we get. Before, we would buy a wrist band or a sprite, and they would sit over there by our little job figures and look dumb. But now, "we" actually get to "wear" the items we buy.

I really didn't like the idea at first. I thought they were all very dumb and pointless. But the more I played with my character, the more I liked them. I started off with a mario t-shirt, a pair of addidis and a denim mini skirt. They looked okay, but I still didnt have what I had pictured all along.

What I really wanted was something like I had now. I matched the skin tone with the hair peice I had picked out, and then I fitted her for clothes. Untill the flare jeans came out, I wore that mini skirt all the time. Now I can't get enough of it.

Guys might think it's a lot like playing with dolls, but don't they change their clothes everyday??? Does God think that giving us air to breathe and food to eat is like playing with dolls??? If he does, I sure hope he doesn't decide that dolls are for girls.

Thank you team for making these characters. I really appreciate it.

The design team has worked VERY hard on doing this for all of us. Personally I LOVE the work they have done.

I just found this thread and it's one of the funniest threads about armor I've ever read...I just want to thank everyone for the laughs...you guys should take this act on the road!

And I want to say (once again) that the biggest kick I get out of the characters is to see people's unique ways of putting the characters and armor together. Combos I would never have imagined abound all over the forums, and they change constantly as people keep experimenting.

That's really what the characters are all about, giving people a new way (at least on CF) of expressing their individuality and creativity. The design team furnishes the raw materials and forum members take it from there, and take it beyond any limits I could have imagined.

I understand that not everyone will get into the characters, and I understand that many poeple miss the old style of armor. EVERYONE'S opionions count. Unfortunately the storage, coding, and bandwidth limitations inherent in a forum format mean that it isn't possible to have the armor in multiple formats -- including "old school". So though everyone's opinions count, we can't meet everyone's expectations. :(

What? No more armor? Thats stuff was better, and far less distracting. Whats the point of these characters? It's like having a second picture, plus, theres those other little armor people thingies anyway. Please, I beg of you, bring back the old armor.

What could be changed is some of the attachments to the characters. Cause I have books floating in the air as you can see and my character's hand is in a fist, but not holding anything. Weird.

there's a reason for that. :)
The books are supposed to go in the bookshelf (I think its in the library section) and you're supposed to hold a sword or a special item in your hand!

I don't need a dolly - mostly other peoples' dollies come and play in my post area anyway...

lostinthought
19th August 2005, 11:13 PM
I like the characters "dollie" or not! Why not just enjoy the fact that it's kinda neat and it's meant to be fun not a big serious debate. OK so SOME of the guys look a little feminine and SOME of the armor isn't very cool but who cares! The pets have no point either and they are very silly looking but it's all part of the site! I, personally, wasn't here before the characters, but I have loved creating mine and playing blessings games and stuff to get blessings so I can buy what I want and bidding in the auction (even though I didn't get what I wanted) and I've changed my clothes a lot in less than a week! Don't take it so seriously! If you don't like them . . . then just leave them alone!

LITB
20th August 2005, 07:38 AM
Not being serious - just saying that other users' dollies clothes come off and sometimes bodies and clothes end up moving down the page and into the space of the poster below them - I use Firefox dunno if it's different in IE...
