You are, of course, already a member of the only real church there is. I suggest you look for Jesus. You may find him in churches, you may find him in a junkie's heart.
I used to think belonging in one particular church was extremely important, but I've changed my mind. I feel 100% free to attend any kind of meeting in any kind of church, and I wholeheartedly recommend it.

I am with ya' . :)Cool, that makes three of us. Jesus dropped by earlier, and he seems to have hijacked the couch. Fine by me.

LOL!! That reminds me of the "house church" in which I was involved . At certain points , my friend would lie across the couch and even fall asleep as the rest of us discussed things . It was very relaxing . :)

There are tons of reasons for finding a church home. Personally, I feel squeezed at times because I attend a Southern Baptist church. However, I attend strictly for fellowship. I don't sign up on the dotted line, enlist in the troops or fall in the order of the machine.
I live in the extreme Bible belt! My only choice of fellowship is to be in a church. So that is why I am there. You can find great value in a church. I have had, remarkably, some growth, personally and spiritually.
The hard part is to remember not to become part of the 'machine' and focus on the fact you are a part of the family of God. If you can keep clear the destinction then you will be fine in a church. Keep in God's marching order and not the church's marching order. PEACE!!
