I just (finally) ordered Stern's CJB in hardcover! I am stoked about this because I think having it in my hands is better than having it online. I can't wait to get it.

So, for those of you who do this sort of thing... do you have (a) cover(s) on your Bible(s)? Hehe! I'm a parenthetical weirdo today. What kind of cover is it? I'd like to get one, but nothing strikes me as "the one", and I wish they came with Hebrew or even the Messianic icon (menorah, star of david, icthus) to set it apart from the mass-produced-hippy-trippy-Christian covers out there.

I can't believe I wrote more than 2 sentences on this, but oh well.

Got one?

I actually have made hand gold and copper embossed messianic ones and sold them at Messiah conference, now they have them mass produced. ;) I would recomend that you do get some sort of cover for the Stern, as the hardcover doesn't stand up to a lot of handling, the spine is weak. The paperback isn't even worth getting as it breaks down easily.

Covers are so easy to make. with a machine or with the new glues and velcro, put your own feeling into/onto it.

I took a black leather Bible cover and took it ti a embroidery shop, they downloaded the Messianic Seal from the i-net, and embroidered it in the same color blue that Israel has on it's flag. It is the only one that I have seen.

I have this one. It is like a small briefcase or purse, and it holds everything I need all in one place. I can carry Bible(s), multiple study books/materials, Scriptural calendar, tallit, small shofar in the two main zippered sections. There's a smaller zippered section in the front with slots for pens, markers, 3 x 5 cards, pad of paper or small notebook, and in front of this is a little outside pocket big enough for notes, pocket magnifier, or glasses. On the back is another larger pocket for stashing any other extras I need. Anyway, I love it and paid a lot more for it a few years ago than what they're asking for it now, and it is still like new!

cool, Dev! I like that! I'll bookmark that one in case I need a bigger case to keep things in.

Several years ago I contacted a Bible publisher about their leather Bible covers. Seems they were made with pig skin.

You might as well slap that Torah scroll with a pork chop.

I've had mine for years.....It's just a plain maroon "fake" leather bible case, with a pocket in front for pens and my reference memo book, and a couple of pockets inside for notes etc.

It's nothing special, but, like you, I just wasn't interested in the fancy schmancy ones for teenagers, neither did I want leather...because of the possibility that it may be pig skin.

It's about 14 years old and is still in perfect condition.

I bought mine from a christian bookstore.

I have a nylon one that has a lot of extra pockets including an extra zippered space that is a perfect fit for my siddur. It also has a zippered pocket that perfectly fits my head covering. Basically everything I need for services/study can be put in it.

I have toyed with the idea of taking it in having a menorah or other symbol embrodiered on it - if for no other reason than making it easier to distingush from dh's who has the same thing. His is a little larger since he uses a hebrew/english bible that is bigger than my CJB. And he can fit all of his stuff in it, including a small tallit & kippah.

I found them on the clearance table at the local christian book store several years ago. ChristianBook.com carries a HUGE selection of covers and very low prices. Lots of them are under $5.
