Hello all,
I left the Catholic church a few months ago and never looked back. Tired of unbiblical doctrine I began looking for a denomination that suits me. After weeks of searching I realized that I do not fit in any denomination. I realized that the true church transcends manmade denominations and secondary belief systems and consists of the relationships genuine Christians have with each other.
Furthermore, the phrase "Jesus is not a religion" has been in my head lately and the Lord has revealed to me that Christianity is not a religion, but rather a state of living. A state of existance. I am not a Catholic. I am not a Baptist. I'm not an Episcopalian or a Lutheran. I'm just a man following Christ. Amen.

God bless you for your noble decision. I am convinced that it is one that every individual should make. Before there were Catholics and Protestants there were Christians, however these Christians did band together in groups (fellowship). Check out Acts 2. This is the origin of Christianity. Check out what they heard, how they responded to what they heard, and how community grew out of their experience.
I heard someone say, "It is the banana that leaves the bunch that gets peeled." We need each other in our journey on earth.
God bless.

I agree. Fellowship is vital. Anyone know of a good Church in Pittsburgh, PA? I just need one with a good community to hold me over until college. I'm going to major in religion and then later maybe get involved with mission work. Anyway, God has his own plans for me I'm sure ;)
God Bless

God bless you in your decision!!! For anyone looking for a church, look into the Church of Christ. There are some who go by that name that might not follow what's true. But "seek and you shall find." I'm part of Christ's Church and we only follow the BIble, we are Christians and we live our life as Christians, as best as we can. Good luck finding a church that only follows the Bible!

Not specifically but the Church of the Bretheren (www.bretheren.org (http://www.bretheren.org)) has a strong presence in PA.
My family is from that area of PA and I was raised in the COB. I no longer agree completely with their teachings but the gospel is preached.

Check out the Churches of Christ. These congregations are independent so they will differ, to some degree, from place to place. Go with an open Bible to see if what they are teaching and practicing lines up with the Word (ACTS 17:11).
God bless!:amen:

Really? A few weeks ago I applied to Ashland University. It's in Ohio and was founded by the Brethren. I didn't know they had such a strong presence in PA though. I'll have to check them out.
Thanks guys for your suggestions. I'll keep them in mind
God Bless.

I believe christianity is believing in Jesus Christ that He is your Saviour and died for your sins and nothing else.
Religeon is mans attempt to gain the satisfation or approval of God based on his own works -example Cain(the first religeous man in the bible)
Besides some christians in the bible were getting religeous when they were saying "I'm of paul" and some were saying "I am of John" and others saying 'I'm of James" etc.
But you know it's not the messenger...it's the message, because the message is alive and speaks of Himself.
Christianity is indeed not a religeon, it's salvation.

Excellent king-priest. Most people, for whatever reason, just can't stand to accept the simplicity of that.
If you peruse some of the threads in the denomination forums (and yes, my wife and I go to a denominational church) you'll see that they get so far away from what you said above that it's sad, really.

Hi everyone, since I became a Christian, I cannot find any church that satisfies me. It seems that all of the denominations in my neighborhood are so much into popularity. They don't seem to be focusing on practicing His teaching. My family and I have been supporting evangelistic organization on regular basis and focusing on witnessing every chance we get. When we attend popular churches we feel useless for Him.
