Christian scholar Tom Oden challenges us all to get to know the great minds that are part of our history as Christians. A Rabbi Professor told him that he didn't know his own faith until he read the Talmud and other ancient Jewish writings, and encouraged Tom to read the great thinkers of the Christian faith. Tom did this and was amazed by the wealth of Christian wisdom and rich tradition which has been preserved in the writings of various Church Fathers. Here's the article:

Rather than arrogantly supposing we understand every facet of our faith and relying only on our interpretation of scripture and the teachings of modern preachers, let's get in touch with our roots. I was a theology student at Oral Roberts University, of all places, when I was first exposed to the great depth of our Church history, which later led to my conversion to the Orthodox Faith. We all have much to be proud of--we have a faith that is truly worth defending, suffering for, and even dying for.
