View Full Version : Need an official ruling...

I think I need an official "time keeping" ruling. The servers for this forum are in Australia right? So then if I make a post, it is not really a post until it goes through the servers in Australia. So the actual time of my post is then really that time in which my post hits those servers and they accept it right?
What time is it in Australia right now? Is it the seventh or the eighth of July?

I'm thinking the lack of response means that it's past midnight there and it is already the eighth of July.

I ain't an official ruling, or nuthin', but I have a friend who lives in Perth, and if it is Midnight in Florida, it is her Noon.....and the other way around of course.....they are like half a day ahead of us! :D Hope that helps some!;)
Much Grace to you......

You are fair dinkum, aren't you?
If you live in the midwest, for example, and I live on the east coast of Oz, then you are 15 hours behind me.
How is it that I can talk to my mate in the midwest, through PM's, as though we're in the same time frame? Now you've got me wondering.

The servers are in Dallas, Texas actually. I am not sure how Erwin has the servers setup but the usual setup is the server time is set to GMT and then the user's settings dictate the times shown on the posts. This means if you submit something at 1600 your time then it shows as being 1600 your time as long as your profile is set correctly.

You reminded me of somebody I so greatly miss from the forum. She used that same saying and it confused me then too. Refresh my memory. What in the world is "fair dinkum"? :D

As I stated earlier, the server time is likely set to GMT and times for each user are calculated by the time zone setting in your profile. You can test this by changing your time zone setting and then looking at the posts.

Fair Dinkum? ... is that right, true, for real, honest? :)
When I first read your post, I didn't think you were 'for real', but the more I thought about it, the more I realized I had the same question as you.

LOL! Yeah I couldn't get anybody to agree with my point that if I had to wait until a "certain" time to do something, then who's time were we talking about!...:D
I have to admit, I was shocked to hear somebody say the servers are actually in Texas. All this time I thought they were in Erwins basement!...:D
