Apparently I am a ladies man when it comes to Native women. The other day I was keeping an eye on the church during a clothing give away and some lady asked me what I was doing in [edit]. So I told her. Then she asked if I was going to school to be a Pastor. I told her yes. Then she asked if I could get married. I told her "Yes I am allowed to marry, it is unscriptural to say that I cannot."

She then got a big smile on her face and told me how single she was and dropped every clue in the book that I should marry her.

I just laughed because I did not know how to respond.

Then today a woman came up to us as we were airing up a tire. We were taking a boat to Stagg River. She asked us if we were heading to Somba'ke (money town, or [edit]). I told her "no we are going 26 clicks to Stagg river and no further." So she asked what I thought she was going to ask which was for a ride where she would hitchhike the rest of the way. We gave her a lift and on the way she was babbling about various things and I was trying to have a convorsation with her.

Then she says sticks out her ring finger and says "my hand, its naked." I just thought "ok" not knowing why she would say that. My response was "yea, I guess it is kinda naked I mean your not wearing any gloves or anything like that." Then there was a pause and she started on Bingo. When we finally let her out of the truck David started laughing and said "she asked you to marry her." "What!?! No she didnt?" I replied. He said "yea, the comment she made about her finger being naked is a Dogrib way of saying "you should marry me."

:P I laughed and told him that I am still culturally clueless and probably to white for my own good up here.

 hehe. Well, I declined because I believe God has plans for me back home with someone else. However, if I said yes I would have to hunt a caribou and present it to her father or her, I am still not sure how that goes exactly. :P

Wow. :D

Hopefully when the Lord does guide you and your possible wife together she won't have to kick you in the shins much. ;)

Fun stuff my friend. Thanks for sharing!

^_^ I hope so too because sometimes I can be a bonehead. Perhaps the Lord will tell me in some sort of special revelation. :P

Dude, you've got it made. I offer to help the girls in my college Sunday school group with their physics, and still not even a single offer for a date! I guess even Baptist girls have enough sense to not go for a physics nerd (even one who's got a Bible in his backpack).

:P lol, well man, you could always come up and help. My friend Bob complained that the only he ever gets asked to do is get drunk or do drugs with the locals.

You could always convert to Mormonism and marry both of them.

Except that practice was ruled out in the last century... when Utah became a State :)

OK, time for a different approach. If I ask a girl to do a Bible study, do I get to count that as a date?
