So it begs to be asked. What rules are going to be enforced here besides the CF rules?

Can we say that the ELCA is wrong when they are wrong??

Well, I am in favor of as few rules as possible. I say let one of those rules be "encourage debate"...so long as the ad homs are prohibited.

I don't think that we couldn't before, but maybe to say that we disgree with what their synod teaches and why.
The problem is that this then will be open to them to come and read that we disagree and why.

Oh...I just read Erwin's post about this being a "safe" place...no debate allowed. So I guess my suggestion for the rules will not work. (And my guess is that this won't be a very busy place if no debate is allowed! What fun is that! :P )

Personally, I think the problem is more simple. It won't matter what one says or how it's said. Any concern regarding their syndodical teaching will seem like "bashing" because it's going against their policy of being an open tent an accepting too many belief systems as a whole.
Alot like the LCMS is in danger of doing.
My uncle and aunt go to an ELCA church because there is no LCMS around where they live. He teaches Bible class on Sunday mornings.
The pastor pulled him aside once and stated my uncle stop teaching we can have complete forgiveness of sins and eternal life only through Jesus Christ.
John 3:16-18 and nurmerous Bible passages without number state otherwise.
I agree though, if there's a concern and a statement there is something wrong and unScriptural perhaps also adding why. At least then it can't be "it's wrong" is just a blanket statement....
....Hmmm...just read the above posts (probably posted right when mine was). Never mind.

This is not a bad thing, I am just letting you know that I have asked Erwin for clarification on the "No Debate" part. I have asked if that means no debate among the synods, or no debates even within synod issues (sorry dont know LCMS issues at the moment, but an equivalent would be the homosexual pastor debate in the ELCA).
Okay, I'm done and outta here!

I think that this is supposed to be where we can go to discuss those issues that may be out of line with the more liberal synods. We can also maybe do some ranting here that couldn't be done before.

The Weasel is curious. If the LCMS, et. al. has its own "room," are there any LCMS moderators in this forum? Or are we still at the mercy of the ELCA folk?
Jus' wonderin'.:)

If we had LCMS mods that would apply and get accepted, then we could get the LCMSer's to stay in here, however, there are NO LCMSers on staff as of now, so it will have to be ELCAers.

we are the ELCA...your theological and denomiational distinctiveness will be added to our own...resistance is futile...
come to think of it...the ELCA could probably USE some of ya'lls theological distintiveness...
