Hi Lionroar,

Here is an extract of what actually happened during her appearance in Zeitoun: http://www.zeitun-eg.org/zeitoun1.htm

Since the evening of Tuesday April 2, 1968 (the 24th of Bramhat, 1684 A.M.), the apparitions of the Holy Virgin Saint Mary, Mother of Light, have continued in the Coptic Orthodox Church named after Her in Zeitoun, Cairo.

The apparitions occurred on many different nights and are continuing in different forms. The Holy Virgin Saint Mary appeared sometimes in full form and sometimes in a bust, surrounded with a halo of shining light. She was seen at times on the openings of the domes on the roof of the church, and at other times outside the domes, moving and walking on the roof of the church and over the domes. When She knelt in reverence in front of the cross, the cross shone with bright light. Waving Her blessed hands and nodding Her holy head, She blessed the people who gathered to observe the miracle. She appeared sometimes in the form of a body like a very bright cloud, and sometimes as a figure of light preceded with heavenly bodies shaped like doves moving at high speeds. The apparitions continued for long periods, up to 2 hours and 15 minutes as in the dawn of Tuesday April 30, 1968 (the 22nd of Barmouda, 1684 A.M.), when She appeared continuously from 2:45 am till 5:00 am.

Thousands of people from different denominations and religions, Egyptians and foreign visitors, clergy and scientists, from different classes and professions, all observed the apparitions. The description of each apparition as of the time, location and configuration was identically witnessed by all people, which makes this apparition unique and sublime.

Two important aspects accompanied these apparitions: The first is an incredible revival of the faith in God, the other world and the saints, leading to repentance and conversion of many who strayed away from the faith. The second are the numerous miracles of healing which were verified by many physicians to be miraculous in nature.

I just love looking at those pictures and reading the stories about it. It was such an amazing, never happened before, never happened since event. I mean she appeared night after night after night for a couple years.

There were so many miracles that those of ALL faiths witnessed and experienced.

I just think that my church is so blessed to have had this happen.

I'm glad you enjoyed the pictures.

God Bless,
Elizabeth

From http://www.zeitun-eg.org/demiana.htm :

On the eve of Tuesday, March 25, 1986 (Baramhat 16, 1702 A.M.), the Holy Virgin Mary started Her apparitions in the church of Saint Demiana the Martyr in Papadouplo, near El-Teraa El-Boolakia street, in the overcrowded Shoubra quarter of Cairo, Egypt. The church of Saint Demiana in Papadouplo is a very small and poor Coptic Orthodox church and the surrounding "streets" are very narrow (about 4 meters wide).

On this day, our Lady appeared beside the two towers of the church of Saint Demiana and was first seen by people living in the houses overlooking the church's towers; Her light shone in their houses and they saw Her in Her full body surrounded by a halo of light over the left (western) dome of the church. This apparition was repeated several times, then the news spread and people from all sects and religions came to see the apparitions. The very narrow streets surrounding the church became overcrowded with thousands of night vigils (see figure on the right) praying and singing doxologies, liturgies and hymns to the Mother of True Light for whole nights.

God Bless,
Elizabeth

You know what irritates me, is when people tell me this apparition is fake. The way I look at it, how can something that strengthened so many people's faith in Christ be fake? AND if it were fake, I'm sure a 90% Muslim nation like Egypt would have been able to figure it out! Miracle after miracle occured during these apparitions--I have no doubt that it was real. My father was in Egypt at the time and went to see it. I just wish I was blessed enought to be there.

God Bless,
Elizabeth

my Grandmother saw it, and my father saw it as a youngster...and I've met many people who saw it...

This apparition is not just a witness of the few, (like those UFO's) it was witnessed by MILLIONS of people, both Christians and Muslims...

And the President, Gamal Abd el Nasser himself, after having police search every home and cutting off the electricity in that city for months, had to finally admit and declare the apparition to be true.

Let skeptics be skeptics. They are ignorant to find grace outside their own churches.

God bless.

The Muslims actually found an excuse. After several days of cutting electricity and searching homes by Islamic skeptics, Muslims, and even the President himself, had to admit the apparition was for real.

However, in order for them to keep their religion, they also cited examples from the Koran of their veneration of Mary as the mother of the "great prophet Isa," who also was born without destroying her virginity. They have yet to explain why she appeared on a Church and not at least on an arbitrary "neutral" building.

God bless.

Lol...
My mom used to tease me when I was younger.
I always asked her stuff about Jesus and Mary, so then she would mention that she saw Mary (she actually did) in the middle of our conversation so casually, and I would be "really Mom? was I there???"
(as you all have noticed, the apparitions occure in 1968 and I was born in 1988)
Anyway, my mom would actually take advantage of my 'young age' (I was around 5) and would tell me that I was there but I was sleeping when she appeared... and I would actually fall for it... :sorry:

I think the Her appearing is one of the most beautiful miracles of the Church. And that she appeared to so many, all the healings, etc. What an amazing testimony to the Coptic Orthodox Church.

I wonder now if the Muslims did find an explanation to why she appeared on the "Church".
Im interested, very interested into knowing what they have to say about this happening. They have said that this happening did occur, what more is going to be said?

As generations go by, Muslims will make up new stories to discredit the apparation, but we have proof from the office of the Egyptian Presidency officially validating the Apparition as part of the Church history and Egyptian national history.

Muslims will have to go against the President's word. Perhaps they'll use the same accusation as they did with the Caliph more than a hundred years ago, who validated (and reportedly converted to Christianity) the moving of a mountain after a three-day fast from the Coptic Church, and from the prayers of St. Simaan the Simple and the Shoemaker (i.e. the Caliph was "crazy").

But that would be hard. President Gamal Abd el Nasser is known in Egyptian modern history to be the "great liberator" of the Egyptians, despite of the bad picture he received from the world at the time.

There are many Muslims today alive in Egypt who saw the apparition that will tell you that the Great Virgin Mother of "the prophet Isa" appeared to the Egyptian people.

God bless.

i saw her several years ago. apparation of course, and a dove. long story. ive seen several angels since then as well, i've gotten closer to the all mighty.

The feelings i received with her visit have no words. I'm no catholic, but after some research, i've figured it had to be her.
