Anyone want to share what book(s) (or Scripture portions or online articles, anything), that you are reading lately?

Right now, I am reading a book called Seeing Christ in the Tabernacle by Ervin N. Hershberger. Does anyone else have this book? It's set up in a way that would be good for group study... and I find I don't always agree with the author's conclusions about some things... so I am just wondering if anyone has the book and would be interested in discussing through it.

And we have been reading out of Proverbs and Hebrews.

That online article I linked to the other day has some concepts I have been mulling over for a while as well.

What are you reading?

I'm reading O, Jerusalem by Larry Collins and Dominique ???. About the Israeli war in 1948 - a great read. That's for bedtime! Then I'm reading and studying Romans by myself and John in Church.

I love Frank Peretti - They need to make movies of his books - especially This Present Darkness. What a horror it would be! The kids would love it!

OK - now I can be serious :P

Every morning I read the parashah in Hebrew for the coming week.
Every morning my husband and I are reading thru a 1 year bible.

Classical Hebrew Poetry A Guide to its Techniques by Wilfred G.E. Watson
A Review and Reference Grammar for Biblical Hebrew by Malcom J.A. Horsnell

I have been doing a personal study thru Psalms in Hebrew (some of which I posted recently - although I tried not to get into too much Hebrew technically).

In the Metsudah Chumash I have Rashi's entire comentary I try to keep up with weekly. Which occasionally sidetracks me to research in Mishnah and Tosefta.

What do you think of the book Seeing Christ in the Tabernacle by Ervin N. Hershberger?

I'm reading through the book of Numbers (keeping up with the weekly portions). I also plan on starting a study through the Gospel's on my own.

I'm reading Grace Based Parenting by Dr. Tim Kimmel and every now and then pick up and read through pieces of To Pray as a Jew by Rabbi Hayim Halevy Donin.

That's about it right now ... but with two little ones under toe, I'm lucky to get in my Scripture reading. ;) There are so many books I want to read ... eventually, huh?

I decided a few months ago to stop reading books( for the time being at least) and just to read through the scriptures and see what *I* see myself.
I started with Acts and read through to Rev. Then went back to the gospels, read through those, and then started back in Genesis. Im at the end of Deuteronomy now.

I have a nursing baby who I lay down with for naps so I do all my reading then and when I put her to bed.
Though with my new cable modem I got today, I might be called to the computer faster instead of laying there enjoying quiet time reading after she goes to sleep.<sigh> like today, I hopped right up after she was sleeping so i could finish my email Ive been avoiding for week because my computer was so slow. LOL

Hey MissJu I was reading that one before I came into this thread :D

TorahClub (http://www.ffoz.org/TorahClub/)

I've been avoiding mostly MJ sites for fear of reading something written by someone carrying baggage if you know what I mean. But now I am going to go ahead and include these sites in my searches for wisdom. Since I am also looking to Chabad.org for wisdom from the Jewish perspective. Like the weekly Parshah and any information anyone is looking for that Jews would know more about. I have been reading lots of writings off the Chabad site.
Here is one I really liked and want to share with you all:

Chicken Soup to warm the Neshama (http://www.jerusalemchabad.com/library/article.asp?AID=112676)

Find the story: (Dis)ability and Assurance

I haven't read every one of them yet. Many more to read :D

I read lots of posts and don't post myself. At times I do post what scripture I read because I am searching for a scripture that fits what someone else wrote in a post or a thought comes to mind and I find a scripture to share.

Shalom,

I also like to read Chabad.org.
Though time sometimes escapes me, I try to read the parshas through them.
I am also studying in Torah Club 4 for a group Bible study that I am involved in on Saturdays.
I am reading the book, "Biblical Literacy" by Rabbi Joseph Telushkin

What do you think of the book Seeing Christ in the Tabernacle by Ervin N. Hershberger?

Well... I sometimes find the author is REALLY reaching in his attempt to draw type/real comparisons in the beginning of the book... which has hung me up right away in the book. :o Which is part of why I wondered if anyone else here had also read that book.

I can't help but feel that a book on the subject written from a POV that is more hebraic and based in Judaism would have made for a far more accurate and rich rendering of the author's ideas. But, I will push on through it and see where he goes. :)

I just finished reading Deuteronomy again. It seems like you learn more and are left with more to ponder the more you read the Bible!

I also recently read part of a book called, "He Walked the Americas" - part of it is posted on the internet. On another discussion board that I frequent a Native American lady mentioned this book. She said that there was a pale man from the east who visited the tribes and taught them about the laws of God and that's what the book is about. She said some even called him Jesus. She also mentioned an interesting thing - the Cherokees pray to - written phonetically - Ja Ho Wa. Interesting to ponder!

I'm following a system of reading through the Scriptures in a year with daily readings as follows:

Sunday--4 chapters from the Messianic Writings. I'm currently in Acts.
Monday, Wednesday, Friday--3 chapters from the Prophets. I'm currently in 2 Samuel.
Tuesday, Thursday--4 chapters from the Writings. I'm still in Psalms.
Saturday--The Torah portion.

I recently finished reading the second edition of Nazarene Israel, and an interesting recent read was Planet X in Bible Prophecy.

And now I'm reading Jewish Roots by Dan Juster.

I'm reading a bunch of chord charts today ;)

Since I rarely get time for reading, I pretty much only read the Bible or posts on message boards

I've read Romans through II Corinthians yesterday while traveling....

Really good stuff in there...

The latest issue of Mesiah Magazine (http://ffoz.org/Magazines/) from First Fruits of Zion. Really great articles - but then there always are.

Got this months Israel Today (http://www.israeltoday.co.il/) in the mail yesterday - I'm slowly working my way through it too as I can find a few spare minutes.

The last book I read was "Holy Cow" - just don't have a lot of time for books right now. But I will probably get and read "Restoration" by DT Lancaster as soon as FFOZ publishes it.

What do you think about the whole Planet X thing? I haven't read that book in particular but I know what is/has been said about "Planet X".

Actually I had never heard of Planet X until someone passed the ebook on to me. I thought it was very thought-provoking. The author doesn't really get into whether there is such a thing or not, but approaches it from whether or not the prophecies as described in the Scriptures could be consistent with such a phenomenon.

The overall point that I got from it was about pursuing a life of daily repentance and preparedness, and that is always a good message.

I can't post links yet, but the ebook is available at escapeallthesethings with dot com on the end.
