I have a terrible habit of not praying as much as I should. I need a way to remind myself to pray so I can get into better habit patterns regarding prayer. What are some ways that you guys remind yourselves to pray?
Thanks!

Hi Dave,
I don't really have anything specifically I use to remind me to pray. I am always praying throughout the day. My prayers range from one liners to thorough longer ones. The longer ones I do when I am alone and away from the kids. While I am riding in a car, taking a walk in the mornings, and during my devotion time. I wish I could have a specific routine with my prayers , but its very hard when taking care of young children, hubby and the household.
I'd have to say my favorite time to pray to God is when I am taking a walk. I get up early and take a walk down our country road. The first part of my walk is all about praising and thanking him for everything in my life....the second half of the walk is all about my concerns and asking for forgiveness.
Hope this helps.....God Bless!

Our pastor tasked us with a program to help us become closer to God... He called it 30 for 30... (I am not sure where it actually originated from)
It involved a commitment to have some sort of an alarm (wrist watch, pager, etc) set to go off every 30 minutes throughout the day. When it goes off, stop what you are doing and take a moment to pray and reflect on the previous 30 minutes... (basically check your attitude and look for areas that you could improve).
Doing this for 30 days was a very powerful experience... Well ok... I didn't have the follow through to make it all 30 days, to be honest... but I did go 22. Now if I am feeling distant or out of touch, I will begin taking those frequent short breaks to spend time with God and get reconnected.
Give it a try!

my family pray at 10pm each night. it takes from 10 minutes to 1/2 hour. Good family habit as we usually stay together before we sleep.
I tried a diary once, writing what I pray for, when they are answered I went back and entered it. A great way to see our God working.
For me there is a special quiet place I go, it's in the fresh air and totally free of car noise, people, distractions. This special place is visited at least 4 times a week.
You have to find what works for you, if your distratced by things, get away from them.

Get closer to God and praying will become as natural as talking to your mom or your best friend. You won't have to make an effort to remember because praying will be second nature! :)

Good post Dave :) Something we all need to work on. Just like any athletic training for their game we have to structure/plan ourselves time in our day. I try to keep a prayerful attitude throughout the day and when certain things happen or things brought to my mind to pray for them right then.
