Today I was talking with O-usa's godfather after Church and I asked him about the progress with the Orthodox Study Bible OT project since he is one of the translators. He told me that he had recently spoken with a top person at the publisher and because of various reasons the release date has been pushed back from July 2005 to late 2006-early 2007.

I was so looking forward to getting a nice leatherbound version next month. :sigh:

Dang  I guess I have to satisfy my wants by buying a Swedish and Finnish Bible... I just picked up a small travel size NKJV yesterday... Weight is a concern when traveling

Can we pre-purchase a copy of the Holy Bible to help fund the project?

I'm not sure but he said that the delay was primarily because Father Jack has been having health problems.

Yes, Father Jack has a bad back. That alone is misery. I hope and pray that his health improves.

I just got the latest Conciliar Press catalog, and they said it should be out in June 2006.

That's a great question.

go here and email them: http://www.lxx.org/

I don't plan on getting one (though I am interested in seeing it), but I do know they take donations and Fr. Guillquest, when I saw him speak, said that any little bit helps (he said that lack of funds is the biggest obstacle in this project) so I think they could just use donations like crazy!

I got an idea...

We at TAW should get LXX in greek and translate it into english!

Don't know greek?

Like that should stop us.
It didn't stop those JW Translators to "translate" their "bible".

I actually stopped by here expressly to check on the progress of that translation, since I want to purchase one when it comes out if my finances will allow for it. It seems like it would be a very handy tool for checking the context of scripture passages the early church fathers refer to which don't seem to correspond to anything in the manuscripts most modern translations use today. The delay is quite the disappointment. :(
