Can anyone tell me with absolute authority if the salvation army is considered a church (denomination) in the USA? I had a look at the link in the resources sticky but couldn't find anything conclusive. I know its a strange question but it would be helpful if I can get an answer and possibly a source as soon as possible.
Thanks

http://religion-cults.com/Christianity/Protestant/P-Denominations-2.htm lists SA as a Protestant denomination.
http://www.christianarsenal.com/demrpt/Demrpt014.htm lists SA as a denomination in the 'Denominational Report Card' section.
http://netministries.org/denomlst.htm also lists SA as a denomination, and gives links to the US and UK (International) sites.
As far as I can tell all the above sites are from the USA.

The bottom line on this si that the Army is a denominaton of the Christian Church. We are a worlswide organisation and that status applies equally whatever the country. How it is percieved on the other hand is a different matter

I've figured out the secret to getting my wife to do what I say. Figure out what she is about to do and tell her to do it!
Does that really work with your wife?

ThanksI worked with a girl in Kansas who's father-in-law was a Salvation Army minister. I also noticed a Salvation Army church in Jacksonville, Illinois when I was living there.
Does that help?:)

Yes, there are Salvation Army churches and it is a denomination, but a lot of people just don't realize it.

Greetings The Dag,
I just googled to search for the Salvation Army... this is all that I could come up with:

I hope this is helpful.

While the Salvation Army in the U.S. is much more known for their humanitarian work, they are definitely recognized as a Christian denomination here with churches in most every major town/city. I have friends who attend the local Salvation Army church.
