There was an elderly woman I knew from Hagerstown, Maryland half a generation ago and half a world away from where I now live. Her name was Mary Michaels. Whenever she entered a room it lit up with cheer and good will. She loved everyone and was loved by all. She was not ashamed to talk about God, yet no one was offended by her. I have met very few people since, that compare to her. She was definitely salt and light, because she left a good taste in everyone's mouth and simply radiated God's love.
Some Christians are known for their self-righteousness, critical attitudes, stand-offishness and general bad taste. She was the opposite. Most of the people where she worked were not Christians, but everyone was attracted to her beaming and loving personality.
