To our Coptic brothers and sisters,

The EOC will be commemorating St Cyril of Alexandria next Thursday, June 9th. I plan to attend Liturgy that day to soak in the wisdom of this great saint. Here are the Troparia and Kontakia of his feast day. God bless you all.

Troparion - Tone 8
You were manifest as divinely inspired, O Cyril:
A guide to the Orthodox Faith, a teacher of true worship and purity,
Star of the universe and companion of Bishops, O wise one.
Through your light you have illumined all, O harp of the Spirit,
Therefore intercede with Christ God that our souls may be saved!

Kontakion - Tone 4
Through the power you received from Christ, O Cyril,
You answered the questions of heretics
Enriching the Church with true teaching,
And weeding out the errors of Nestorius;
Therefore O blessed one,
You now stand before Christ with the choirs of angels,
Ever interceding that He may grant forgiveness of sins to us all.

slainte,
kevin

Thank you for the hymns; they're beautiful.

In the Coptic Church, we celebrate his departure on July 10th (3rd of Abib in Coptic months).

They are indeed beautiful hymns. If anyone here wants them, I have the services for Vespers and Matins for St Cyril as well. Just pm me, and I can email them to you.
