I was just wondering what is the Coptic/Oriental Orthodox view of the Easter Orthodox Church?

Just as the title says it: Orthodox.
There was a tradition before the 1950s where we used to beleive them (and Catholics) to be Nestorians or semi-Nestorians.
But nevertheless today, after many dialogues and open research, we believe they are Orthodox in faith. Although not officially united, we still encourage cooperation between the two families.
God bless.

Hmmmm...
I see, but if you all are to rejoin wouldn't that involve conforming to 4 extra-eccumenical councils?
And aren't you all miaphysites, isn't that belief different from the Eastern Orthodox one?

There have already been statements put out by both sides regarding our Christology beliefs. See www.orthodoxunity.org (http://www.orthodoxunity.org)
As for the ecumenical councils, I believe it was Mina who was saying that we were not present at these councils, so they would not be considered ecumenical but rather local councils. Maybe he can better explain...
All I know is, these are not concerns of mine. We all known that through God anything is possible, so if it is His will for us to reunite, then it will happen.
God Bless,
Elizabeth

I see, thank you very much.
What about the Assyrian Church of The East, I was wondering about your relations with them.

If I'm not mistaken they are Nestorian. We are not in communion with them.
Just to let you know, on the EO forum, they grossly misrepresent the Oriental Churches. I was reading some of what they said and I unfortunately cannot argue with them on there or else my posts will just get deleted.
But monophysitism as defined in the 5th century denied Christ's humanity thus saying he had one divine nature. Miaphysitism teaches of a combined nature both divine and human.
So Maximus is simply lying when he says that Mia and Mono are the same thing.
I urge you to check out the thread on here explaining why we are not Monophysites. It explains our position thoroughly.
God Bless.

I am trying to sift statements and understand clearly what each church actually teaches.

I hope I don't offend anyone in here but I’m angry at maximus for attacking OO and RC in a place that we can't defend ourself.
I want to first say we Oriental Orthodox are orthodox and more so then anyone else. This is because we accept everything said at the first three councils. We have not changed and our Church Fathers are inline of accepting the first three councils. If one believes the Church had the right believe before Chalcedon then you have to accept the Oriental Orthodox as orthodox.
The words two natures was never taught neither in the books of the Bible nor at any time before Chalcedon. If anything that would make EO not Orthodox not the other way around.
In regared to the Church of Assyria of the east they claimed victory at the council of Chalcedon here is a link of the Assyrian of the east. http://www.nestorian.org/nestorian_theology.html
The Nestorian Church believe exactly like EO here is a quote from the link
” 8) Summary
· Nestorius spoke of Christ as one person (prosopon) in two natures (physis), human and divine.”
Maximus doesn’t speak for all EO. There are many EO that are working toward unity. There are some that are working towered condemning .EO can accept unity or choose to condemn the OO. There is no such thing as this is what the EO believes.
We accept both EO and RC as our brothers regardless to what they think of us.
God bless.
I hope I haven’t offended anyone. :holy:
