LORD IS RISEN,
LORD VICTORIOUS!

REJOICE!

What is the situation with brethren in Egypt?

Is the Church still being plundered by Authorities?
Is the memebership on decrease ot increase?
How are brethren being treated by moslems?

This article is a few years old, but it does not paint a pretty picture.

Born and raised in the Boston, MA area. My parents were born and raised in the Cairo area, moved here in the 70's.

Hi Stefan,

The situation in Egypt is getting worse. If you are a Christian, you can’t get a job or they try to reject your application based on the fact that you are a Christian. They can tell straight away whether the applicant is Christian because the name is not Islamic. The fact that Egypt don’t have social security, so if a Christian family doesn’t have a job, there is no means of feeding themselves. Then there are also highly organised terrorist crimes of kidnapping Coptic girls and rapping them, then forcing them to become Muslims. The way they force them to become Muslims is after rapping them, they emotionally blackmail them by telling them that their family would not want them back after being sexually defiled and that they would have no future. Other girls are threatened with that harm will come to their families if the girl should not convert to Islam. You can read more about those crimes in these websites:

http://www.amcoptic.com/to_egypt.htm (http://www.amcoptic.com/to_egypt.htm)

http://www.jubileecampaign.co.uk/world/wilf20.htm (http://www.jubileecampaign.co.uk/world/wilf20.htm)

As I mentioned under the thread called “Coptic family slain”, in Egypt, Muslims try to get rid of the Christians either by brute force or by making it look like an accident. You also hear about the recent massacre of a Coptic Village “Al-Kosheh”. To read more about Coptic Persecutions by Muslims in Egypt, these are good websites:

http://www.jubileecampaign.co.uk/world/egy1.htm (http://www.jubileecampaign.co.uk/world/egy1.htm)

http://www.copts.net/photos.asp (http://www.copts.net/photos.asp)
http://www.copts.net/martyrs.asp (http://www.copts.net/martyrs.asp)
Under the thread called “Armenian Genocide”, I mentioned how so many Coptics died over the centuries and still dying till today. You can read more about the history of the persecution in these websites:
http://www.cswusa.com/Countries/Egypt.htm (http://www.cswusa.com/Countries/Egypt.htm)
http://www.copts.net/index.asp (http://www.copts.net/index.asp)

Yet, the Coptic Orthodox Church still prays for all Muslims that they may come to experience the Love of Christ in their hearts and minds and be transformed in His likeness and image. “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” (Matt 5: 11-12)

“But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven” (Matt 5: 44-45)

Love and blessings

Thank you erinipassi!

I think that praying for the moslems is a thing that we all do. That is us, that do not need CNN to tell them what moslems are. The Church has always prayed for the heterodox.

One thing amazes me. How little Christian West actually cares about Christian East!. As one of my brothers said on a different forum, we just do not have oil!

Thank you for your links. I read amcoptic and copts before, but these others are more than welcome.

It is "funny" when Christians in the West talk about "secrificing for God"! What can one say, but shake his head and think of the East!

Thankfully, the Sun still rises there!

Maranatha!
