You have a SB book, but how about an Atkins book for those of us that are really into a healthy diet?

If Atkins is healthy, than I'm a 50 year old man ;). Still, it does seem only fair that if there's one there should be the other.

Then, hello SIR.
Where do you get the ridiculous idea that Atkins isn't healthy? It's far healthier than the food pyramid, WW, low fat or even SBD.

I agree, I don't think ny of those are healthy. The main issue I have with Atkins is all of the products it supports contain sucralose. IMO the more natural the diet the healthier the diet.

The REAL Atkins diet, not the one Atkins Nutritionals puts out, but the one Dr Atkins advocated, didn't include all the fake LC foods. It included natural, whole foods with the bars and shakes only occasionally to hold you over if you were in a bind. That was before he sold the company. There actually are some LC products that are good. Like Just the Cheese. Just little rounds of crumbled cheese baked crisp and seasoned.

Very interesting, OK I'll agree then that as long as you don't indulge in saturated fats all day long that Atkins can be healthy.

And why shouldn't you eat lots of saturated fats? Saturated fats are extremely healthy and heart protective. I eat lots of butter, lard, beef fat and coconut oil. Animals fats and coconut oil are much healthier than canola, soybean and corn oil.

Yes they are better than what you've listed trans fats are the worst, but the best kind of fats are still what you get from foods like olive oil and avacados. Animal fats can be healthy but like anything if you eat too much it can become a bad thing.

It isn't possible to eat 'too much' animal fats. They should be your main source of fats. Where do you get the idea that avocado and olive oil are better than animal fats? There's NO healthier fat than animal fats.

From every nutritionist I've ever talked to. Where do you get the idea that they're not?

Nutritionalists are clueless about real nutrition. They only know what the government tells them. Here's some REAL facts about nutrition.
Know your fats (http://www.westonaprice.org/knowyourfats/index.html)
Facts about nutrition (http://www.westonaprice.org/mythstruths/mtnutrition.html)
Low fat/low saturated fat diets have been the scourge of modern man and are the cause of the diabetes and obesity epidemics we have now.

Amen to that first statement. I guess you know more than I though, so I should have been more specific about "nutritionist". I'm talking about organic and natural food lifestyle conselors I've talked to a holistic clinics. Your sources are interesting, but I could find just as reputable ones that contradict it. I say a good rule of thumb is moderation for any type of food (though there are many that should be just plain avoided :)). A good book that I think you would enjoy is "Fit for Life" which has some very interesting information on nutrition, natural foods and supplements.

You should check out the books "Life without bread" and "Nourishing Traditions". Nourishing Traditions is actually a cookbook, but it has alot of info on native, traditional diets and how they feature lots of healthy natural saturated fats and few grains.
I do eat the occasional grain, but never unless it's sprouted (Ezekial Bread) or soaked. I soak my steel cut oats in water with a touch of vinegar for 2 days.

I will check it out next time I go to the library. I actually don't eat any bread or white flour myself but I can't live without bazmati rice :).

If it's controversial item, I request that you remove the SB book! It find that diet very offensive that you have one diet but not another!
Atkins has cured many people of health problems that diets like SB CAUSE!

OK, rather than getting all upset and bent out of shape, how about you take a moment to go and look in the armory? You will notice that the first book has already been removed and was removed before the denial was given.
Any time an item causes this much bickering, it's removed. It's not worth the headache.

No, it wasn't. I removed it before denying the other one. Perhaps you still had cookies showing it or something, and needed to refresh? I don't know, but point being, it's gone now.
Perhaps a PM next time would be better.
