Wow, I used to LOVE Cinderella. I saw them in concert too. They were opening (along with Warrent) for KISS.

Never got to see Cinderella but I did get to see Metallica a few times, and that was alot of fun! Shall I start humming "Fade to Black"?

No, the 80s hair band CINDERELLA had a song "don't know what you got until it's gone."

Ahhh..Ok..same line is in the refrain of "Big Yellow Taxi"

Don't we all... esp in our know-it-all early age :D ! Man I knew more than anyone could possibly fathom. Now I've realized my own mortality and the fact that the bird next door probably knows more than I do...
RIght. And I also had this savior/mentor like mentality which always drew me towards the trouble-makers.

ROFL When I was 19, I had my dad check me out of rehab and drive me to Memphis so I could see Metallica at the Liberty Bowl. They were touring with Van Halen, The Scorpions, Dokken and Kingdom Come. Monsters of Rock I think it was.

I know exactly what you mean. One day in seminary it hit me just what a know it all I had been acting like and how I had actually left very little room in my life for faith. That was the day I really started down the path that would lead me toward Orthodoxy. Starts humming (by Billy Joel, of course) "some things were perfectly clear, seen with the vision of youth, no doubts and nothing to fear, I had the corner on truth..."

I have to change the station whenever Enter Sandman comes on. It really brings out the Vader mentality in me. I used to love that kind of stuff. AC/DC was my favorite band and Highway to Hell was my theme song. Literally.

Very true. Unfortunately I have a way of not listening to my intuition. I've put myself through some very hard times, knowing full well beforehand where the road would lead. But I did learn from it.

I'm thinking about getting the names of every male who's treated me bad tattooed on my arm, followed by "REMEMBER THOSE BLANKETIES, YOU IDIOT?!"

I have a funny way of getting struck with amnesia whenever I feel especially lonely, which is why I reminded you to make sure to look for a good Orthodox man. I'm not sure how common this kind of catastrophic memory loss is.

Oh yeah, and I can't stand Metallica. Give me Barenaked Ladies any day. :) "Welcome to the Bryant Street Theater; have a fruit rollup!... Aren't you gonna eat it?!"

Oh geesh, we're getting old... We used to drive around in my car the day after school ended and blast Summer of 69 for like hours... it was like the official start of summer... even tho it was the early 90s :D ! It still makes me smile to think of that... my slow little car (although the sound system kicked butt) and all my friends in it...

My class went to Iceland for our class trip (yes, we worked our behinds off for that one) and it was the hit music then. Even the guys listened to it... all while we're playing poker with Icelandic coins (worth very little), drinking more Coke than we ever thought possible and eating local pepper and salt potato chips... Oh boy... those were the days... My dad had gotten me a Camcorder for the trip and I still have that video. But it makes me sad... my class teacher died just a few years later and one of my classmates crashed his car and passed away. But when I see my friends we still joke about the trip... and the catchy phrases have stuck...

When I really want to get nostalgic, I listen to all of the great classic rock from the late 60s that was on the Oldies stations my dad would listen to. I grew up on Billy Joel and know all of his songs by heart, so his tunes can bring back some major memories. In 1988 my mom actually told me that if I listened to DEF LEPPARD's Hysteria one more time I would go hysterical.

It's supposed to be mid-winter, but with temps between 41 up to 72 you would call that mild (Only Florida or the Gulf states would identify) But the heater is on, as it seems to be chilly.
Enjoy the rest of your day. I will catch up with the news tomorrow.

Now I'm waiting to hear how grilled, cooked, seared, broiled or fried my dear desktop is... or if there is something else odd with it. I really hope it's not bad cuz I really really really don't feel like spending more money right now... Matrona

Lengthy illness.

Okay. I ran across something (http://www.vor.ru/English/Christian_Message/program_7.html) recently that said St. John was lured to a house under false pretenses, crucified to a bed and stabbed in the groin--it wasn't clear on whether he survived that or not because it skipped right to how many people came to his funeral.

It struck me as a little odd because I've never read about anything like that in any other account of his life, and that they didn't make it clear how he died.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was actually written about our Marjorie:

"marjorie is a brilliant lady with a keen sense of curiosity and the tenacity to plow through details that would send anyone else running"

Doesn't that just describe her to a T?

Well, I found out my desktop is indeed cooked, grilled and fried... powersupply is done, and so is the motherboard, the chip and memory... looks like there is still some life in the hard drive so they are trying to rescue some stuff from there.
You have my sympathy. The same thing happened to my computer here at work. The UPS got killed by a surge or something and took out my motherboard and memory. Amazingly the power supply was unscathed and is still working like a champ (expensive redundant units). The surge also took out one of the hard drives in a RAID5 array as well as the hot spare. I was able to recover all the files but it was insanely slow going.

Good morning

Kolya
8th June 2005, 04:53 AM
Good day John and Emmanuel:wave: Had to take the misses in to the Specialist this morning, so running a little behind today.

I bought it in Sept last year... The surge protector has warranty on it and so does my renters insurance (at least of some sort). For some reason the cable modem still works so at least and I got a new wireless router today so I have to reinstall it to get it to work with the laptop again. So right now I'm hooked up directly to the cable modem and can't enjoy sitting on my comfy bed. :D

Ain't lightning the pits!:) I work with claims like that all the time. I have surge protectors on all the power outlets in the house, but if a bad electrical storm is brewing, I shut down and log off till it's over. I hate claiming. There there is an excess (Levy) of $150.00 per claim.:sigh:

Oh, it did fry 2 gigs of memory too.. that's what makes me the most sad...

That's why I have a 160GB external HDD back-up, so you don't lose something important.

There's a good reason why my friends call me 'The Gadget Queen'... although I must say I have calmed down a bit... just a bit...

Canon made me rather bitter over their new consumer SLR digital (the new Rebel)... it's too small for my hand... dang... I'll stick with my old one... it's a wonderful piece of technology...

I just spent $80 on small stuff for my new SLR the other day. 6 rolls of film, lens cap leashes, UV filters for both lenses, a lense cap, a Nikon camera strap, and a new battery. Oh how expensive my toys can get!

Work, what do you mean work??? I just have a husband that calls me on his way to work to wake up his lovely wife (who is rather cranky at an early hour)... but I'm just not a morning person...

As my mom always says: It is now too late to go early to bed...

But I should still make my way there...

When we still got along, the first thing my x-wife used to say in the morning was "Coffee" and then it was usually followed by "Oliver, get off my pillow!"
