Thanks James,

Also www.higherthings.org (http://www.higherthings.org) is run by a group from the LCMS. And www.Lutherquest.org (http://www.Lutherquest.org) is also a very candid Confessional conservative forum run by Lutherans. My time here is almost up.

I joined with user name of "Jimmie" Ya all can find me over there.

I'm hoping things get fixed here, but it appears to me that the Mods would rather stand by their guns and uphold their rules than uphold the rules they already had.

Guess there shouldn't be too much problem with us radiacal conservatives gone Huh?

I finally signed up on Lutherquest.

I also checked out lutheranforums and higherthings. I may sign up on them next week.
This weekend, I have a Synod convention to go to. We'll see if I'm still ELCA by Sunday. ;)

One of the things you will notice on Lutherquest is when they are referring to the LCMS they will sometimes refer to it this way ?C??. I am surprised that no one here who is in the ELCA and is disenchanted with the synod refers to it as
E?CA. Lutherquest is mostly LCMS with a few WELS and ELS mixed in. I don't recall seeing any ELCA there, but since the ELCA gets bashed (at least by CF guidelines for bashing) regularly it isn't too surprising that there aren't many. So welcome to Lutherquest.

I don't mind the "bashing", as long as it is accurate and not simply slander. I will defend against innacuracies that I recognize, but then I will defend the RCC, Mormons, etc. against false attacks that I recognize as well. It is a "truth" thing, not a "I'm offended" thing. Heck, I will probably be able to add to the list of ELCA "problems", considering I'll be the only (or one of the few) people who are ELCA there.

Actually when they find out you are ELCA the main line will usually be "How can you belong to a church in a synod that teaches heterodoxy?" That usually puts one on the defensive right off the bat. You will also find quite a few cynical and sarcastic notes regarding any defense you put up for them. Also beware of Mr. Andrew Farhat and Mr. John Lutz. They are probably the two most left leaning LCMS we have on the group. You might find them to be closer to your own beliefs. Crosswisemag is there as David Brazeal. I am there as my full name Scott Larry Strohkirch.

Most of the posts though will be picking on LCMS polity vs what the old LCMS taught.

So there is the lowdown on what to expect when on LQ. Enjoy

My recommendation: read everything Pr. Weedon says and take it to heart.

I consider myself to be as Confessional as they come. (They always say the best Lutherans are former Roman Catholics!) But from all of the horror stories that I have heard about LutherQuest, I am staying away from that one. There is an ultra-conservative element in the LCMS that teeters on "conspiracy theory" nonsense. They seem to be dominant in LQ. I have read some of the things posted there and it's a little far fetched for me.

When the JesusFirst newsletter and the "Otten rag" (aka Christian News) come in the mail, they get tossed immediately. I don't want my parishioners being poisoned by any of that. I am having a hard enough time trying to heal the wounds left here by my predecessors.

So can I assume from what you have said here that you are just to the left of those on LQ? I agree that there are many conversations that are out there. I usually only follow a thread if I find the topic interesting or if I am the one who started it. Do you ever get World magazine? I know that we got it for a while and I found some good articles in there by Gene Veith and others of his kind.

Oh well, probably why I will hang out here after all. This is family even with the stupid new rule.

Wait until they actually start enforcing the new rule. It is coming.

I guess then we will have to determine if in doing so they are being fair and honest about it.

I know that it is hard for me to give up coming to someplace that I have been to almost everyday for the past 12 1/2 months. I may not know your faces, but I can trust that when you post something you are being true to yourself. Even Angelus is pretty dependable in staying true to himself despite the fact that we will never agree about some issues with which he is a proponent.

I would miss ChiRho and Crosswise and Rev and Lotar (even though he has gone EO) and Music and Night and I will definitely miss filo. I hope that some of you would miss me as well. Yes, it is going to be hard having to get used to this new rule and it may very hamper our ability here to defend the truth in the way in which we have been accustomed, but we need to be more creative in how we do it and then stand by it. If the powers that be still find us to be in violation of their petty rule change then it will time to go. And if we do go we should be united and just leave here and find somewhere else we can still reach each other even if only by Email.

They're not even enforcing rule #7, which is their baby!
