Waiting for the Verdict

Do most Calvinists agree on the validity of these two thought systems? I'm just curious, because I attend an Orthodox Presbyterian Church (my theology is liberal, however) and it seems to support both Rushdoony and Jay Adams.
Just curious.

Hard to say if "most" do, I would say no to the first, however I'm not sure about the second.
I for one do not accept the recon position.

I for one do not accept the recon position. Thanks for answering my post. So what is your personal opinion on nouethetics, if I may ask (don't worry. I'm not trying to start a debate, I'm just curious.). My church is filled with Jay Adams material and I'm not always sure my pastor even beleives mental illness exists (which is fine if he doesn't)

Its hard for me to say, as I've not done much study on the issue. I believe that any pastor/congregant counciling must be Biblically based, and I also believe that much of psychology's insights into the human mind are simply understandings of the human mind as affected by sin. But that said, I don't put any weight in non-Biblically oriented psychology. (That is such a hard word to spell. :P)

Bible-based counseling Is the problem that it becomes not-so bible based? I would think that bible based counseling should be about the only kind we seek--although I wouldn't discredit other types, within reason.

Dunno, honestly, I've not delved that deeply in the subject... nor do I know where to point you. Perhaps someone else here might know.
