If I have figured this out correctly, today it will be the count of 40 of the omer for those holding to a biblical rendering of how to determine when the new year begins. Therefore by my reckoning of when Yeshua arose from the grave until Shavuot from then would be "Sunday" the `15th on the Roman calendar. And according to the calendar the next day is a new moon thus starting the second month. But that makes today Ascention day! Halleluyah!

In 1 Kings we see that in the Second day in the second month King Solomon began to build the house of the L-RD. ;) And in Ezra we see the rebuilting of the temple also started in the second month. (ezra 3)

So the Torah was given ( the foundation) on Shavuot, and the Ruach was sent among the believers from Yeshua on Shavuot.

So 6 days ( if I am reading my calendar right) after Yeshua ascends to heaven he starts preparing a place in the many mansions he promised he would? ( Only in John 14).

Just some early morning ramblings, I hope some of this makes sense. :)

Yupp you got it 100% right

I always like Shavout a lot. I kind of egerly anticipate it because it carries with it a really exciting connotation and memory for those who accept Y'shua as moshiach.

The day when Ruach was poured out in his fullness on a fightened and worried people taking them from a place of hiding to a place of boldness.

Very cool stuff

We'll be celebrating Shavuot this weekend. Our congregation goes camping at the same place we go for Sukkot. It's our way of tying the spring and fall festivals together. Plus, it's a lot of fun.:D

Am I all alone here???I know what you mean, Zayit. Even my congregation chose to follow the Rabbinical calandar rather than the L-rd's. Being pretty new to Messianic Judaism, I don't know any other way to celebrate than to 1.) record a love song to Him today [Light the Fire Again] and 2.) spend the evening gazing into the Eastern sky expectantly. If He doesn't come, I'll go to the Parashah Study at Synagogue.

I pray His blessing on you and your today. I pray for all my brother and sisters here and around the world. I pray for the shalom of Jerusalem knowing that He is the only way that Jerusalem will see lasting shalom. Baruch HaShem.
