Has anyone heard of this book, or its author, Richard Rives? Or the web site of the same name?

I have been reading his articles on the web. I am still so naive and unsure about so much, I wanted to get some sort of confirmation that this was not some weird trip. Lots of it is explaining how paganism has affected (!) Christianity, and more. It is especially the 'more' I feel unsure of, the other is fairly cut and dry.

Thanks!

It is a fact that paganism has deeply affected (infected) Christianity.
What is the "more" that concerns you?

'What is the "more" that concerns you?'

Well, I don't know....I got uneasy, and I'm not sure if it is the 'news' of so many pagan holidays and ideas incorporated in Christianity. I read all the links, but I felt like something wasn't right. So........I don't know....
is it me?

Thanks...

I like the site. It is very sobering to see how far from Abba the congregation has strayed.
I hear a lot of believers touting canned paganism without even knowing what they are saying. Debating on-line with Knowlegeable Jews really made me think about what the scriptures were saying, compared to what I was taught they say. It is like if Christians say something often enough and in large enough numbers...it must be true. But what it is - is a gospel other than Paul taught a gospel other than Yehoshuah taught.

The reality is this,,, our practices and traditions are closer to sun worship, than what I believe God intended. Remove the names and for the most part, a pagan from a couple of thousand years ago might almost feel at home.

even Judaism is not immune to unscriptural influences and traditions, even pagan ones... :sigh:

Christianity is not the only group that twisted worldly ways into it's makeup. The Tanakh is full of it's occurances. I also believe it is inevitable for this NOT to be the case in any endevor to find Yeshua, the Truth of YHVH's message. The Adversary is FAST at work to veil the witness and twist it with lies.

I'd agree that the T'nakh is repleat with scathing warnings against allowing pagan influences

I'd strongly deny that the faith/religion of HaShem as given by HaShem and Moshe includes pagan practices

It is also true that where the Jewish people did fall into pagan practices, as chronicled in the T'nakh, they were in direct rebellion and conflict with the Instructios of HaShem

Today, the modern practice of Judaism is riddled with practices of pagan influnces - most of which have inflitrated since the absence of the Temple and the Sanhedrin... in the environment where each rabbi can make his own halakah......

I just wanted to clarify what I meant in my post ;)

Richard Rives was like most of us, he found out that all that glitters is not gold. I don't fear anything he writes as he is among this new move of God.

We all need to heed Pauls advise and prove all things. Trust but verify!

He has been a regular on Gods Learning Channel. I have many of his programs taped and pass them around to anyone who wants to hear about Too Long in the Sun.

To be honest with you that is why I recommend that people learn the scriptures better. Focus on that :D When we REALLY direct our attention in this manner and get our information from there, we are not easily thrown off course.

To be sure there is no shortcut, it takes time - but I have nothing better to do!

I had to dig out my copy of this video this weekend after my nephew visited us with his new friend(girlfriend) who we found out over the course of the weekend was a wiccan:eek:

My nephew has just come back from Iraq and we were so happy to see him! His family discovered Hebrew Roots at the same time we did about 8 years ago and have fallen away from belief in God over the course of the last 2 years (due to extreme hardship in their lives) but the sad thing is they have suffered far worse in the past 2 years since they backslid! (please all you prayers out there, life them up today and this week:groupray:)

This video is very informative on these "occultic holidays", and it really shakes up those who are thinking that occult things can't touch them, that every thing is separate in Christianity ("we don't celebrate it that way").
