I'm feeling a little upset this afternoon. I've been visiting another baptist message board as a guest and I've really enjoyed the site. I haven't exactly been comfortable with the church I've been going to and to be honest, I don't even understand everything they teach. I just can't seem to grasp it. I'd really like to learn more about the Baptist faith and I decided to join the board. During the registration process, it asked what denomination I am and I listed Lutheran. I gave them a valid email address and filled out everything I was required to. Today, I received an email that simply said my registration was denied. No reason given. I wrote the webmaster and asked why I was denied and I hope to hear from him/her today. Because I wasn't given any reason, I'm wondering if they would've denied me access simply because I'm Lutheran? How Christian is that? Please tell me, this behavior is not the norm among Baptists. I hope maybe someone can send me some links to some baptist forums so I can learn more about the faith. I don't think I'll go back to that website again.

I'm sorry you were treated like that. All are welcome here. That site may have been exclusively for Baptists. I don't know, I don't hang out in any other Baptist site.
To their defense, it could be that they are exclusionary to prevent bashing. There are some denominations that think Baptists are heretics
I hope you hear a positive answer from the webmaster.

I think i know the forum you are speaking of, and I think it is rather ironic that I was excepted there, and have no wish to post there, and you want to and cannot.

It was probably Baptist Only. No worries though. You are more than welcome to post here and find out anything you like about us Baptists. :)

I don't even know what that means. LOL. Can you tell I'm new in my faith?

That's okay.
We walk by faith.
When we first learned to walk we hung on to things to make sure we had our balance. Then we would walk a couple of steps and fall. Before we knew it we were running.
So does our walk with the Lord.
A heretic is someone who holds or to an opinion or belief that contradicts Biblical teaching.

Oh, and welcome to our little corner of CF

This also happened to me, when I had first been seeking answers. It almost turned me away from faith altogether, God took care of that. But it really makes me angry this is happening to the earnestly seeking. I am not sure that anything could make me angrier! Classifications are just not fair and do not promote a Christ Like attitude. So the site that I had been involved with had so many with these complaints, sharing this same experience we started our own board, for study. Very much like this board with no divisions. Because we all know each other and shared that same hurt and rejection feeling. Sometimes it gets interesting --well OK tense, But I pray every day that we can somehow agree to disagree on the secondary issues. And I am actually seeing growth spiritually for all of us. So far so good!

This board is an excellent place! To learn, I sort of liked it better when we all were together but the differences seemed to cause conflict to edification. I believe this is why they divided us again.

You are absolutely right in being upset about this; I do not believe this is how God intended things to work between us. I do however recognize that some of these boards also do good things. And it is easier for them to stay like-minded. It also shows me a board that needs more spiritual growth in that area (this goes for churches too) IMVHO.

There are so many different Baptist churches. My church is not legalistic, however our sister church a town away seems to be a bit more than we are. It is strange. It really depends on the area and members it seems with my experience with Baptist.

My best friends are Lutheran (Missouri Synod) and it really freaks them out when they hear all the singing at my church. (I am still getting used to it because I came from a fundamental background in that area - none of the new songs all of the old hymns...I am learning!) But I hear the Wells Lutheran are a bit more charismatic.

I would check out the churches in your area, and visit their websites reading their statement of faith. And then visit until you find the right one. I am not so big on the Internet stuff, reality seems a whole lot different that what information you find there!

Someone here might have some ideas...or you can try and ask questions...not sure how broad the answers would be though! :)

Great concept! I wonder why they didn't call it Christianforums? Almost all the Baptist types seem to be represented, yet they allow "other Christians" there....even those they don't know about yet! ;)

Not sure I would say this is a safe bet for reality here....but it could give you an idea on the variations from strict to liberal!

Yeah the title of Baptist doesn't mean a lot with so many deferent views and denominations of Baptist. Each seems to have their own conference for support and rivalry between the groups.

But the potlucks are all excellent.

I'd say you're better off without them---and it's their loss! :)
